Nope, doesn't work that way. His was a tantrum just trying to hurt the US. If he had just leaked the video of said blown up journalist it would be better...besides, that incident is not nearly as cut and dried as you try to make it sound.

What's the Jefferson quote? Those who choose security over freedom will deserve neither and lose both?

In both cases, Mannings and Snowdens, information was released which compromises the operations of US military-intelligence apparatus by exposing underhand and illegal activity being carried out.
It is just as conceivable that not being able to covertly monitor telecoms activity will endanger lives and "aid the enemy" as being unable to keep your torture, murder and spying programs secret.

But in both cases it is nevertheless right to expose the crimes because they are immoral and ought to be stopped.

It would appear that the major distinction here is that while people value their constitutional protections, they don't value the lives of brown people in faraway countries so much and thus refer to the Manning/Wikileaks revelations exclusively in terms which ignore what they exposed - as has been seen repeatedly in this thread, the sole consideration is the "undermined our forces" argument.

    There are differences.....

Manning just released documents. Manning is not a traitor. An idiot? Yes. Someone who should be in jail? Yes.

Snowden didn't. Snowden only released the process on how they do things. He didn't realize any info on specific people or groups.

Also as time goes on Snowden is beginning to look more and more like a out right traitor. It's believed he's trying to defect to China with multiple secrets that he stole not to mention what he's got in that brain of his.

He can't be CIA agent because he didn't graduate High School, or so say the media. Also he used to be in The Army - without a HS diploma, and The Army doesn't take people without a HS diploma except under extremely rare circumstances. Regardless I'm not following the story very closely.
