My mom was nearly 40. My dad was 2 and a half years younger than my mom (ironically dad was also 2 years younger than his second wife).

Mom died at the age of 75 after a relatively brief illness (series of strokes culminating in a major one).

My dad is 84 years old now.

After reading BD and ECs analysis I guess it could be one or both of two things.

    1) I was really hoping I would get the head coaching job this year. The players want me. The parents want me. Most of the school boosters want me. But the head coach is not going to leave I've recently decided and I doubt that the ones who want him to go are going to be willing to force him out. Actually he is a good man but I still wanted his job and he (thinking he was going to leave) tried to prepare me for the job last year.

    2) I have financial worries. I'm having a bunch of unexpected expenses lately for my family. Vehicle repairs, doctors visits and things of that nature. It seems like every time I get some hope money wise something else goes wrong.

I have a recurring dream in which I'm trying to drive a car while sitting in the back seat. It's fuckin' weird. I figure it has something to do with fear of loss of control.

Same here. Mine usually involves me being in a vehicle that's moving very fast and I realize that no one is at the wheel.

The other recurring dream/nightmare is that I get called back to military service and I don't know how to operate any of the weapons/equipment. Probably has something to do with me not ever wanting to be "unprepared" in my job. :marathon:

HA! I feel your pain. I have recurring dreams where I'm in a strange unit and there's some kind of an event or activity that we have to get ready for, and I am totally unprepared! Wrong uniform, can't find whatever equipment I need, etc.

My vehicle dreams are usually I can't see (no headlights, window foggy, etc) and I drive or fly off the road, and I'm waiting for impact and I wake up suddenly, quite frightened as you can imagine!

I have sporadic dreams about my teeth rotting away or falling out...

Not surprising since I deal with that kind of stuff nine hours a day.

Your teeth fall out nine hours a day? You must be a shark, or have a lot of extra teeth.

I get those a lot, and I love them!

Some people claim that dreams about flying are indicative of a person having an out-of-body experience during sleep. The "flying" coming from the fact that you are floating about without a body. I don't know if this is true or not, but I will say that I fucking LOVE to fly in my dreams, and I get so disappointed that I can't do it when I'm awake. It just feels so free.

Dayton, I think that's what your dream was about. It fits the symbolism.

Ha ha! No, the usual interpretation of flying in a dream is that you're trying to escape something or feel trapped somehow.

This. If there is any relation to current situations its only due to that data being manipulated/pathways used recently so more likely to be processed.

How is that a case of "only"? The pathways most recently active leave their trace on the content of your dreams -- and of course all the rest of the content also comes from your mind; there is nowhere else it can come from. How is that a reason against using your dreams to figure out what's going on in your brain beyond the 1% that you're conscious of at any given time?

This is how I see it, along with that the defrag process is trying to deal with emotions and thoughts and the like that you have been dealing with, or perhaps more correctly not dealing with (I.e. burying), and trying to put it into a context you can understand to deal with said ideas or allowing a safe place to release those thoughts.

I'd be lying if I said I could remember a happy dream. I think we, or maybe it's just me, really only remember the nightmares / night terrors. Then again it's been a few years since since I've had one of those either. Win some, lose some I guess.

As for pre-cog, yeah not trying to go into batshit territory but I've had more than a few. My mom experiences the same thing. I run into a situation and can instantly recall the dream I had a bout it a time period earlier. Freaky as shit.

I just now (minutes ago) had a driving dream. In the dream I actually thought "I better pull over before I fall asleep at the wheel".
Oh, and I was hearing Earth, Wind and Fire's "Get Away" but not on a radio - it was just playing like a movie's sound track.
Youtube it, great but overlooked song!

Last night I had a dream about a woman with black hair. She had bangs and was nicely rounded. She told me her name was "Dove." WTF?

I had a really weird one about a week ago. I dreamed I was visiting Kwai Chang Caine in some dusty jail. Next thing you know it he was being strapped to some horses in the main street of town and he was quartered. I woke up right when the deed was done.

Dreaming is critical to human health, our sleeping minds need to visit another reality on a near daily basis or we start to fall apart. That other reality may well be simply random firings, but we need those random firings, and there is no doubt our waking reality affects our dreams.

As for dream interpretation? The royal road to the unconscious mind?

Might well be something worth exploring.

For the last year or so I've been able to fly in my dreams when I want to. I had to 'learn' how to do it. At first I'd wake up, then I had to learn how to control myself flying, now I can fly in my dreams If I remember I can fly.

The most recent vivid flying dream I've had was a few nights ago. I was visiting a place that looks a lot like Helen, GA. While there I got separated from a girl I was there with, and started to walk around to look for her. I couldn't find her in the immediate area so I decided to fly to look for her. I was in spot that was in a courtyard and to get out you would walk through an arched area, I flew through it and had to fit between the top of the arch and the wood beams that were below the arch. I can remember flying about 20 feet above the roadway looking and then going over some building to look in other areas. At one point I decided to get a view from up high and flew up to around 1,000 feet or so and back down. I did find her, she was walking out of a shop and I flew down to her and landed on my feet next to her.

    I probably have a flying 2-3 times a week.

There are people who would say that the pattern we say in something is more important than what that thing actually is. See ink blot tests as an example.

Strange. I routinely have happy dreams, particularly those that contain romance or sex.

I also rarely have nightmares and I can only remember once waking up startled after a nightmare.

I wish I had happy dreams with romance and sex! And I used to wake up my family and myself with moaning and shouting with nightmares all the time. Not so much recently thank goodness. My dreams are trippy and disturbing - kind of as if David Lynch directed them. And what's with the music in my dreams? I don't have the radio on to influence the dreams.

DIO...Earth Wind and Fire.....Tom Waits I think one time.
