The Blues started off with three goals in the first ten minutes of the season! And the third one was a dandy:

    Hard work, stickwork, and teamwork!

Halak set a franchise record with his 17th Blues shutout. More than Hall, more than Fuhr.

That's . . . kind of embarrassingly low. Not as embarrassing as giving up 7 goals like the Panthers did though.

Next up: schooling the rest of the league on how to beat Chicago, hopefully!

Maybe we should rename this thread "Blues Hockey Appreciation Thread 2013-14", since no one else is posting anything in it..

Hell of a game last night!

Oh, I'm sure somebody else's team will do something interesting eventually. :busheep:

Like the Devils. They've lost all four games so far, but because three were OT, they're ahead of three teams in their division who have a win.

And Colorado, San Jose, and Pittsburgh have also won all their games so far.

The Columbus Blue Jackets are about hour from me, but tickets are too much. I'm not paying a 100 dollars to watch a hockey game (OR ANY game for that matter)

They don't have any upper-bowl nosebleed type tickets? Hell, depending upon the game/opponent, I can buy Blues tickets as low as $30 each!

Hmm...a quick check of the CBJ website allows me to call Bullshit! They listed tickets available ranging from $30 - 72 each.

They were more than that last year. My friend went and his ticket was around 95 bucks. We have the Cincinnati Cyclones we can go see for 7 bucks.

I'd love to take my oldest son to a Capitals game but the ticket prices are crazy.

The Canucks suffered a bizarre own goal recently:

Yeah, those are the Canucks. Old-school uniforms, or are they that desperate to escape those horrid whale-things that even a generic "uh, well, it's a hockey stick" logo seems better (note: it is better)? I don't know. Either way, just admit your mistake and go back to the red-and-yellow skates. Sure it's a little generic, but so's your nickname, and it looks nice.

Those are throwback uniforms the Canucks are wearing. :zzzz: Boring logo. Orca logo much better.

I'll take boring over crime against taste, personally.

Alexander Steen now has ten goals in nine games!

The Blues do need to stop racking up so many penalties. I stared at how many minutes they were averaging per game, I thought that can't be right . . . and then Chris Stewart managed fourteen minutes' worth on one play. That will lose you games and is simply not classy.

Penalties got them last night: the Lightning's third goal was scored shortly after a power play expired.

I'm more of an NCAA Div 1 fan, but I do loosely follow the Bruins. So far they seem to be playing okay. The last few games hopefully won't become a pattern.

The Phoenix Coyotes are looking good so far. I'd like to go to a few games, but I live too far away from Phoenix. :(

The Blues lost 6-3 to the Sharks on the 29th. They don't lose often (knock on wood), but when they do, they seem to tend to lose by a lot.

The Blues have traded Halak, Chris Stewart, a prospect, and picks to Buffalo for Ryan Miller and Chris Ott.

I'm not pleased to see Halak go, but Stewart has a reputation for inconsistency and I guess Miller is supposed to be pretty good? I haven't been following the sport anywhere near as closely as I used to. If we get a Cup out of this then it's all good I guess, but I don't have a good feeling about this trade.

Miller is pretty damned good, but the Blues still go through streaks where they struggle to score, and Miller won't help that. Still, he might be able to steal a game or two for the Blues in the playoffs. Personally, I would've given Halak a shot this year, since he's been injured the past couple of playoffs and we really haven't seen what he can do there as a Blue. But timing is everything, and Miller was available now, so...

The Blues belly-flop into the playoffs. :sigh: Up first: Chicago, wouldn't you know it.

The Bruins have looked so strong the past few months, and with home ice advantage all the way through, I'm pretty excited for the post-season.

I dunno, man. Detroit finished fairly strong and has had the Bruins number all season. Not the best first-round matchup for your guys....

Well, the Blues have squeaked by the first two games. Here's hoping they go on the road and stomp Chicago properly. :bergman:
