From faceman But if people really don't want to see it, why can't they have it hidden, similar to the Blue room not showing up if you aren't a member of it? Can we not do that on the new system? Or are we just being stubborn and saying you have to see it but you can't participate in it? I actually don't care as I just gloss over it, but this seemed like a good question.
Careful. If you push the issue you'll hurt ancalagons tender adolescent feelings. Then he'll remove your ability to post threads, report posts and send PMs board wide.
As far as I'm aware it's a pain in the butt to do custom views right now, that's why the Blue Room is visible to all registered members. It seems to me like for the moment at least it makes sense to have the Starscape boards publicly visible, so anyone who was ever interested in them can easily find their new home, so it would have to be an opt out system rather than opt in, which is even more complicated.
What Bailey said. There is a technical difficulty with hiding it. But more to the point, why would we bother? There are other rooms at Wordforge that many users skip, such as Press Start and Camp Wordforge.
I like options. Why have an ignore function when one could easily skip over an annoying poster? Why look at a forum that you aren't allowed to use?
ftfy Have you asked @John for access? He has authority over Starscape Lounge membership. I can't post there, for example, but if I wanted to, I'd ask John, and he'd make a decision based on whether I qualified. Also, just an FYI, but the current arrangement is temporary, for the purpose of acclimation. At some point, there will be no Starscape firewalls. But like I said, if you're eager to bring the Faceman brand of humor to the lounge, best convince John that such a thing is a good idea.
I think @Bailey and @gul covered it all. Just be aware that while in the Starscape Lounge it's John's rules.
