Take all that away, what's left?

Seems like "normal internet browsing", is....NO internet browsing.

    Yeah, maybe in 1960...

You can. But given Cameron is forcing the ISPs that cover 96.5% of the ISPs to implement filtering by default, those sites will cease to exist for most people :(

So since it's implemented by default, do ISP's notify their customers that they can opt out of filtering or does the customer need to be the one that notifies the ISP? And is it difficult to opt out of the filtering?

ISPs have begun the process of forcing filters on all new customers just very recently.

Within the next 6 months or so existing customers will be notified that filters are being implemented, then they will be implemented for everyone who has not opted out.

I am currently doing my best to stir up unrest over this.

Why does it have to be on the ISP end?
If people are pussies, they can filter Google, there's a control panel right there.

Two reasons. First of all most of google is or supports https. ISPs can't filter https connections because they can't see their contents.

Secondly, google filters etc are done via logins and cookies which are trivial to bypass via using an alternative browser, logging out or clearing the browser cache.

Anyhow, it's not aimed at people filtering their own connections, it's for technically illiterate parents to try and filter their children's connections.
Not really, streaming video sites are getting the chop, e.g. Youtube.

    Fuck 'em.
People who want nannying by the government should get the slavery they deserve, and leave the rest of the species out of it.
