Okay - The Mexicans say they will only negotiate if the Marine claims PTSD. The fact that the FUCKING SIGNS ARE VAGUE and that this Marine has trouble getting disorientated (not necessarily related to PTSD but is indeed a mental defect) isn't a factor I guess. So here's a guy who has indeed served honorably, but The White House isn't breaking any speed records to help him. BTW I think this is a trick - why would the Mexicans "suggest" this if they weren't ready to pull a "gotcha!" and there's some stipulation where anyone with PTSD has to spend a minimum of ten years under psychiatric evaluation or something. Hey! Maybe Eric Holder can give them some more guns if we can have him back! Discuss http://www.foxnews.com/politics/201...rine-could-avoid-long-prison-term-by-blaming/
I'd say anyone who has a tendency to get disoriented when he's driving should take someone else with him in the car. I mean, seriously. Guns in the car. Somewhere he's never driven before. Doesn't even have to be the Mexican border; that's just extra. And he knows he gets turned around when he drives, but he does it anyway. Talk about the Perfect Storm... And can you survive for 24 hours without mentioning Eric Holder?
Were any speed records broken for Bergdahl? And since Mexico is generally friendly toward us and the guy is likely in no particular danger of harm, is it really comparable to a POW situation with a hostile force that hates the U.S. and likes to behead people?
I can't wait until Obama actually does something to help this marine, so oldfella and the ODS brigade can turn around and explain what a total piece of shit the guy was all along and how Obama shouldn't have done anything to help him.
Obama should suggest a trade: The Marine gets sent back to the USA, and in return Obama will send back 5 million Mexicans. Since they're friends, they deserve a much better deal than the Taliban got!
AWESOME! You should run for office - you'd get my vote with ideas like that. Regardless, he's safe being incarcerated in Mexico. They rarely have any deadly violence in Mexican prisons - I think they about the same as Sweden for example.!
I hear he was disgruntled with California treating people like they are stupid just because they have a different culture - he just wanted to help the Mexican people!
Seriously? You think the evidence is the same? We have eyewitness accounts from the soldiers who went looking for him, we have his emails stating his intention to desert and we traded 5 Taliban thugs who were actively trying to kill Americans. What of any of that is similar to the the Marine trapped in Mexico? What is with your fanatical obsession with defending everything Obama does?
You have hearsay and hyperactive media coverage. Get back to me when you've got the transcript from the court martial.
At which point you'll still squirm around to defend the trade. Still not sure why you think Bergdahl compares to the Marine in Mexico. Are you going to answer or will you instead go off another troll excursion?
There is no comparison at all between a soldier held as a prisoner of war and a man held on criminal charges who just happens to be a marine. The marine in Mexico should be treated no differently than if he were a schoolteacher, a burger flipper, or a CEO. We don't let criminals off the hook just because they're military, and when our nationals are held abroad on bogus charges we help them regardless of whether or not they're military.
I've answered you. You just don't like the answer. You have no "evidence." You have hearsay. Get back to me when you've got the transcript from the court martial.
Who gave a large percentage of our voting (some twice!) public the "inspiration" to vote for Obama.......twice? That's some powerful mojo/hypnotism right there.
Did we help her? I think we did. Damn it's been a while. Wasn't Italy trying to trick her into going back over there for a retrial? That wouldn't have ended well for her.
I don't remember how much we did or didn't do for her, but those charges sure were bogus. I don't think these charges are nearly as ridiculous--they're not state sponsored terrorism against tourists as I described the Knox proceedings; depending on particulars of Mexican law they're either an overcharge meant to force a deal or they're facially valid gun-running charges--but it's certainly plenty plausible that this guy accidentally drove into Mexico. He should have access to State Department help and if the State Department concludes that he accidentally drove into Mexico or this was somehow PTSD related then he should get pretty vigorous help.
Man I don't know - I think Mexico is all to willing for the Marine/lawyers to accept the PTSD claim. They have already proven to be difficult by not straightening this out within minutes/hours of the incident. Can we trust them to not railroad this guy? You'd think the DOJ could put some kind of leverage on them. Don't break any speed records or anything! He's safe and sound in a just above Third World corrupt country with notoriously dangerous prisons.
No matter how bad Mexican jails might be for Mexican inmates, I can't imagine their government would be stupid enough to put a U.S. Marine in a situation where anything could happen to him.
Ok here goes, time to live up to my screen name... There are two very important facts that people on either side of the isle don't seem willing to discuss. It's either the Republicans saying Obama negotiated with terrorists or the Democrats saying he didn't and coming up with all kinds of excuses. I hate to be a Debbie downer and rain on everyone's parade but neither of those points matter. The things that matter are 1) what the damn terrorists think, and 2) what the rest of the world thinks. They are both thinking the same thing regardless of what the administration or the opposition say. Think about it, what message did we just send? That they only have to get their hands on Americans and to get us to release their pawns. And even worse! By leaving that Marine in Mexico we just told the world we would rather negotiate with terrorists then with a nation we are ostensibly allied with. Get ready people, open season has just been declared on American citizens in a way that makes others less likely to assist. Sent from my Lumia Icon Tapatalk
What our government is basically telling Mexico is that they're Mexico's bitch. They'll let criminals flood the border and not only do nothing about it but actively let them off the hook -- but our guy takes a wrong turn, Mexico throws him in the klink, and our government won't do shit.
I guess we don't want to upset our valued trading partner. Yeah, nice trading - you give our drug cartels military grade weapons and we kill your drug agents with them. Oh, and encourage our poor and destitute to skip across your Swiss cheese joke of a border so your tax dollars can keep them safe and sound, and able to send money back home to boost our economy.
I'm pretty sure the standard is always that foreign nationals are subject to the host country laws. The US following that standard gains us respect. Fussing and whining about it is why so many laugh at America. Some of you guys, with these antics, give the rest of us a bad name.
