Chup reported a post by We Are Borg that crossed the line. I agreed and issued a warning for flaming. But also it seems that the thread is a bit put of control, so I warned Chip for trolling. I am not a Whovian or whatever you folks call yourself, so I'm hoping somebody else can police things. I posted a reminder that such behavior is a no go there, but I don't particularly car to wade back in.
Somebody needs to take a look at the warning to Chup. He and Packard are saying it wasn't justified. I don't have time right now to read tough more of the thread. http://www.wordforge.net/index.php?posts/2654915/
IMHO I don't think WAB intended "cunt" as a flame but more as a "jjbe" at Chup. I think. I posted just now, suggesting that people tone down or preferably stop the insults in the thread and to move the dialect discussion to the Red Room if they wanted to continue it because it's too far off topic. I'm not a Who fan either, so if someone else wants to chime in, feel free.
The warning to El Chup was understandable. I would've stepped up and said something sooner if I were a Who fan and followed the thread before the warning, though. WAB's OTOH not so much. Like shooter, I took it as just a jibe, and it's certainly no worse than the shit flinging that's been allowed to slide during the Star Trek threads when Dayton posts.
Yeah, that's why I pointed out that complaints about WAB's post mean more restrictive moderation. El Chup reported the post, and my point is that if he wants us to enforce the flaming rule, he too will need to behave.
So you're saying that it's not ok to debate the use of the English language in people with accents, but it is ok to call people a cunt in MC? That's fucked up, especially when you think that WAB has been trolling me over PM with my personal info.
You both got warnings, and note post 5 in this thread. I prefer a light touch, but when people make an issue of behavior in a moderated room, we have to look at all of it. Maybe the correct term was spamming, rather than trolling, but you had led things off on a tangent, seemingly with the intent of bothering Packard. You don't like it, maybe develop a thicker skin and be a bit less quick to hit the report post button.
What I don't think is being warned about having a conversation about accents, a conversation born out of the thread subject. That has nothing to do with having a "thicker sin".
For the record, I was neither bothered nor did I feel as if Chup was trying to bother me. But if he reported WAB, I completely misjudged that thread anyway. Anyway, I think I was mostly the person getting the accent discussion so far off-topic.
