On the original Law and Order, the District Attorney was played by Fred Thompson,
whose political views were similar to Dayton's.

Thompson grew up in Sheffield, Alabama, where he played high school football.
He graduated from Memphis State, and received a law degree from Vanderbilt.
Thompson served as a U.S. Senator, from Tennessee.

He campaigned for lower taxes, while driving around the state in a red pick-up.

I give this one a 5 out of ten. Perhaps you can score more points if you figure out the reference.

It would get boring watching him lose every case.

There could be a crossover time travel episode with Dayton defending Captain Tracey in his court martial.

Somehow I think that Admiral Carson Tower will need far more defending.

Actually I can see Dayton in court manhandling the judge, jury and opposition.

His closing submissions - "May, it please the court, I am a Christian. I deserve automatic respect. I do not have to lower myself to answering the case or my opponent's position. I must therefore win this case by default. Case Closed".
