I do wonder what the flashshite has got wrong in his life that he has to sit and search through all these ancient threads.
Ehh I don't think auto-locking is necessary. It's easy enough to ignore bumps. And sometimes there are good/relevant bumps (i.e. if there is an update to a big news story a year later). Besides, putting a time limit on locking a thread would just lead to certain posters bumping the thread one day before it is supposed to be locked. If one poster engages in bumping too often, spam rules could easily be triggered depending on the circumstances.
I'd only support this if there was a provision for requesting one be unlocked by a mod for an appropriate purpose.
hmm... unlike the VR's purpose of isolating idiots, I can't come up with a reason to oppose a "use before" system of archiving them so long as there's a decent search function. It can't be a junk drawer.
This seems like creating a general rule in order to counter a specific poster. Why not just deal with the poster? Why should everyone else's experience be degraded? Old threads can be useful for all the reasons others have pointed out. I personally like adding more info to @Volpone's Seattle is Killing it's Economy thread.
