Easy! You strip the Governor of executive powers. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...nor-signs-law-limiting-power-of-his-successor *Did I spell it right that time?
Are they still trying to add two Supreme Court seats so McCrory can quick fill-'em-up before he leaves office, overturning the result of that election too?
This is the Republican strategy. If you can't win legitimately, rig the system so you can win next time. It is the strategy of men with tiny dicks. Change the yardstick measurements so you don't seem as tiny.
I await the announcement from astronomers some time after January 20th, that because Reagan, Lincoln, Grant, and Eisenhower are spinning so fast in their graves that the orbit of the Earth has shifted.
My you sure seem to know a lot about measuring tiny dicks! Don't worry, some day you'll meet your Prince Charming.
Since Trump's tiny dick is about to determine the course of our country (and to an extent, the world) for four years, we'd better all become experts on 'em ...
The kicker is that the GOP legislature isn't even legitimate. A federal court found them guilty of racial gerrymandering and is forcing a special re-election next year to fix it. Not in time to stop them from performing these shenanigans, of course. This is how Republicans stay in power in a country where the majority of people disagree with their policies. It's disgusting.
it really is revealing of just what kind of mindset we're dealing with. I mean I know all political parties are vainly self-interested but when have we seen shit like this before? These assholes make Mississippi look good which...is not something one should aspire to.
Meh. The progressives tried to do the same thing to the moderate Dem mayor of SF with a series of ballot props. The governor has those powers by grace of the legislature to begin with. If the people want a stronger governor, they'll elect a legislature that gives them one. I don't like the part about printing judicial candidates' party affiliations on the ballot, but I don't much like elected judges to begin with.
As opposed to "we got kicked out, so on our way out we're going to try to make sure our successor can't actually do anything."
Normally I would say I'm surprised this isn't getting more media coverage. But I can't because the media is a joke and gives a pass to angry white men and their blatantly partisan tactics. North Carolina has a problem every state should want: people are moving there to make money. This causes Republican lawmakers to piss their pants because with in-migration comes intellectuals, innovators, liberals, gays, Democrats, and others capable of thinking outside of an agrarian box.
Frankly I've never understood why anyone would recognize the shit hole they're living in, move to another state and then turn around and vote for people whose policies would be just like the shitholes they just left.
This would be a much more convincing argument if Republican-run states didn't rank lowest on almost every quality-of-life indicator there is...
Quality of life is a liberal concern. Real Americans care only that government is small, taxes low, and sexual deviance outlawed.
Trying not to post, but I'm sorry, this is so cute. Republicans control more than 2/3 of the states, but those are just the crappy ones anyway? Were they crappy before the GOP took over from the Democrats? When OBama took office Dems had 28 to Republicans 22 governorships. What's it now, 31 governorship and 68% of the legislative branches? But I'm sure like Pelosi said as she we reelected leader, it's not that much of the country disagrees with your message, it's just that you're not getting through to the idiots. I think you guys are wise to stay on track with your current view, maybe a tiny bit of tinkering here and there but you guys really need to forge ahead with your world view, sooner or later fly over shitholes will see how much smarter you all are than the rest of people.
Republican voters were energized by a perceived villain at the top level. Perhaps the same will happen with Dems in the next four years.
