At first I thought "why put a doctor in charge of HUD?" But smart is smart, so I'm sure he'll quickly develop the skills to do a great job.
I dunno about that per se, but he's not a closet Klansman and that makes him one of the more qualified people Trump has picked so far. What he said in Anc's quote ain't wrong.
Wow, I could have written nearly an identical passage. He definitely appears to see a major component of the housing crisis that many people miss. Still missing is a discussion about infrastructure subsidizing in efficient housing patterns, but maybe he'll get to that.

I am not sure Carson is all there anymore. A person who is becoming detached from reality due to something to dementia can seem very coherent and use a lot of their knowledge and be thinking something completely out there. It is not that the data isn't there but rather it gets mixed up and the person is not drawing accurate conclusions from it. For example I could be talking to my grandmother who suffered from dementia and she could be saying things about family and places in the United States and it would seem for long periods we were on the same track and all of a sudden I realize she is talking about her birthplace in Germany. She is still seeing me as her grandson, but it is clear she is confusing me for someone else because she is recollection how I used to play at her German home which she had not lived in since my mother was five. I am not sure if it is dementia or delusions, but Ben is not all there anymore. Ok, he might not make a mistake and he might be able to maintain, but the president of the US and trump have a better pool of people to draw from. If you want to pay attention to Carson, but have someone else making the decisions.
How expensive are pyramids nowadays? I think last I heard they went up to $250k apiece. That's some pretty serious inflation!

there are a lot of fair housing policies his position would be charged with enforcing. Particularly in cases where a bigoted landlord evicts an LGB/T person or couple in a state without state level protections, his department has the responsibility to defend that person or persons - and won't. He's a guy who openly mocks trans people and with his medical training there's little excuse for that, it's not ignorance it's animosity. I'm opposed to anyone who holds direct animosity to a segment of the population holding power - but then, all those offices would be empty a week from now if that were the case.
