https://www.theguardian.com/comment...rge-orwell-donald-trump-kellyanne-conway-1984 (...) If Orwell were alive today, I imagine Trump would amuse and horrify him at the same time. The key message in Nineteen Eighty-Four is that the purpose of propaganda is to narrow and limit human consciousness, confuse human conscience, and control and narrow the range of thinking. (...) It’s useless to pretend that this isn’t all sharply reminiscent of the world of Nineteen Eighty-Four (...). Winston Smith, sitting in his cubby-hole at the Ministry of Truth falsifying back-numbers of the Times in accordance with the latest revisionist diktats from on high, deals in “alternative facts”, or rather with deliberate untruths that eventually become facts merely because the former versions of them are no longer around to disturb. (...) Interesting, thoughtful piece here. (To head off the trolls, let me point out that no Chicken Littles are screeching This is Nineteen Eighty-Four!! They're merely drawing parallels to what Orwell had figured out 70 years ago.) In an interesting way, this ties in with the thread launched a few weeks ago by @Man Afraid of his Shoes about the vagaries of human memory. They can be damn useful to those with a keen understanding and no scruples.
El Lube can't read anything over 140 characters. Someone out there in the Real World mentioned Pyongyang and Dear Leader. I'm thinking more along the lines of Nuremberg 1933. But Der Drumpfenführer believes he's the First Person to Think of These Things. Good.
Lube has been wasting the hours of his short life giving every one of my posts the ol' TLDR for days now (dozens and dozens of them), probably because I accurately diagnosed his acute trollitis. Such a wee infant.
FishFingers used to be a decent poster. Then he decided to suck up to the Kool Kids by becoming an All-Purpose Troll. Sad!

Since you think Trump is an idiot (thus no keen understanding) but yet he has no scruples (since he is evil incarnate in your eyes) I guess we have a wash - no gain, no loss in the equation.
Bush was an idiot, too, but I don't think anyone was calling him the devil incarnate until his second term.
Once you took up the banjo, yeah. Trump isn't engaging in propaganda. He's engaging in advertising and marketing as he's done it his entire career. Control the message, present the version of things that you want presented, and who cares about truth as long as you make the sale? Bear in mind, always, with regard to this orange buffoon, he's not a politician. He's a businessman, and he thinks like a businessman schooled in all the worst practices of the late 20th/early 21st century business world. Short term gain, profit uber alles, me me me. All of his actions are understandable in that light.
He's been doing the same with mine - I'm not sure what he hopes to accomplish by this. Reveal to the world that he has the mentality of an 8-year-old perhaps?
You have just described propaganda to a T. You know that the creator of the term propaganda later rebranded it as "PR" to sell it in the US, right?
Yeah, but "propaganda" usually means a political ideology of some kind. Trump isn't political, he's egotistical. And as a businessman he thinks in terms of selling things and making deals, not governing.
Possibly that's overestimating his target. Dindins has now joined him. Maybe they're competing in some sort of Troll Olympics.
Naw, I am just neg repping your posts which are dumb, not all of them, just particularly dumb ones. Sadly, you make a lot of dumb ones.
