http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news...arging-provocateurs-with-racketeering-9109154 Since they're a bunch of fucking snowflakes who can't handle the fact that THEY'RE now the ones being protested, the Arizona GOP voted for a bill defining organising protests that later cause violence or property damage - even if such was not planned - as "racketeering" and enabling law enforcement to seize the assets of any involved - even if a planner never actually showed up to the event. Be interesting to see what the courts make of this, because it's pretty obviously a means of shutting down protests (and thus freedom of speech) through threat of legal action. If people cause damage at protests - ARREST THOSE RESPONSIBLE. This bill would allow seizure of assets from everyone involved if one idiot - or plant - kicks off.
Shit, that'll ENCOURAGE plants. They'll silence the organizers of protests, and let the plants go. See if they don't!
Should. Since the congressional Dems seem to have folded as feared, it looks like your court system is your last line of defence against shit like this. But "Vee haff vays ...", don't they? It will be interesting to see how the judiciary behaves, not just in this case.
This is the same legislature that got so angry about their constituents taking away their ability to gerrymander that they appealed it all the way to the Supreme Court before getting smacked down.
Absolutely, the courts should hand the people in favor of this their ass on a silver platter, but (you knew there would be a "but," didn't you), this never should have been proposed in the first place. Folks have the right to state an unpopular opinion, no matter how reprehensible it might be. The people in favor of this law seem to think that's not the case.
Not to mention when was the last time a Tea Party protest turned into a riot? I think this is a stupid law to try and pass but to try the Tea Party angle is silly since almost all political violence comes from leftist protests.
To be fair to the Tea Party, I don't think I ever heard of riots at any of those. But as others pointed out, this is an incredibly stupid, horrendous law.
It is hard to get baby boomers out of their electric wheel chairs much less to riot. They mostly rant a lot and wait for their can of insure.
An article that draws absolutely no connection between that violence and the tea party A perfect example of why the media is no longer trusted.
