After Trump criticized Obama's golf trips, he's gone golfing 10 times in the past 8 weeks....But Sean says it's different because reasons. Same link talks about how he said Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manaford...let's repeat that....his campaign chairman played a "limited" role in the Trump campaign because Russians.
Additionally, Spicer differentiated the "very limited amount of time time" from the "very limited role".
As I said at TBBS: "I think the problem for Spicer is that the Press Secretary's job is to communicate the POTUS' point of view, and the point of view of the current POTUS is fucking retarded beyond what you would expect if the average IQ were in single digits." Trump probably thinks Zyklon B is one of Megatron's lieutenants in Transformers.
Saw this: Pepsi: Worst public relations disaster ever. United: Hold my beer. Sean Spicer: Cash me outside, how 'bout dat?
Dana Perino (GWB's press sec, currently a Fox fox) said she feels bad for Spicer, 'cause he's a nice guy who usually does good at whatever job he does, but he's stuck doing this shit.
Watch the press conferences. Spicer can't talk. He mispronounces, stutters, hesitates, says "umm" and "ahh" and like that. Not optimal for the FREAKIN' PRESS SECRETARY! Meh. Trump is gone by the 4th of July. Then this whole sorry mess will be a curious historical footnote.
Spicer has to go. Not because of the Hitler thing because anyone with a brain knew he was talking about battlefield usage and not in the concentration camps BUT because he should have known that the people who oppose Trump and him would automatically twist what he said into him denying there was a holocaust. He's not fast enough on his feet when speaking. One he shouldn't have said it the way he did and if he was going to say it he should have immediately followed up in the next sentence saying of course he's not talking about Hitler using gas in the concentration camps only that Hitler did not use chemical warfare on the battlefield.
Yeah, you really don't have to be a Trump opponent to think that (1) 'Hitler only used gas for genocide but not in war and so Assad is worse than Hitler' is an insanely bad argument, and (2) 'let's improve this discourse by adding an unneeded comparison with Nazi Germany ' is an outrageously bad strategy. But all of this fits the general policy of the Trump administration. Let them call us insane, let them be outraged about all the bullshit we spout every day -- as long as the barrage of insanity is unrelenting, substantial political criticism remains unrecognizable. In other words, they want an incredibly bad Press Secretary, and once they'll inevitably sacrifice this pawn, they'll need to come up with an equally bad replacement or something else to fuck up communication beyond repair.
I don't think he was denying the Holocaust (automatically or not). I just think it's a ridiculous comparison to make--look, we don't need to compare everyone to Hitler to show they're bad people or not. There's no "Hitler Measure" of badness. Assad isn't 3 Hitlers of evil.
That's the thing. It wasn't his initial mess up that is causing the uproar so much as the fact that when the press asked him if ye wanted to clarify (i.e. threw him a life vest), he went and messed up again. But I do think the people trying to suggest it means he's anti-Semitic are really stretching.
