http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...rders-tougher-drug-crime-prosecutions-n758111 Mandatory minimum sentencing for all!
The kind of discredited past where ur government made sure ur gun shops sold guns to straw purchasers for the drug cartels on Holder's watch?
yeah, I take anything Eric Holder says with a grain of salt. When he says (something to the effect of) "I'm a black man first, an attorney general second" that pretty much sums him up. But I do think that non-violent crimes (like drugs) should be put on the back-burner behind violent crimes. That said, it would be "racist" to do that where I live: 90 percent of the violent crimes in the Augusta GA area (rape, homicide, armed robbery, manslaughter, shootings, battery, etc.) are perpetrated by blacks. So if we toss out the DUI and drug crimes and shoplifting (which all racial groups commit about equally) then virtually all of the crimes in the Augusta GA metropolitan area will be committed by blacks. Is that what we really want?
Let's all remember that @Zombie and @Paladin have openly admitted to voting for Trump, so I'm sure they'll be along to defend this shortly.
The solution would be for Congress to change the mandatory drug sentencing. I don't see that happening though with Republicans being the majority. I liked Holder's goal of reducing prison time but I think he went wrong with saying he would just ignore the law wrt mandatory minimum sentencing. The real solution is to get Congress to change these laws.
I don't like mandatory sentencing either. It seems designed more to take the responsibility out of judges hands than any good reasons involving justice or rehabilitation.
All drugs should be legal. (People who do drugs are stupid retards IMHO) But, the drug war is a complete and total failure. Want to kill the cartels? Make them compete against other businesses because that's what they are but they have no real competition. Narconomics: How to Run a Drug Cartel is what I'm reading right now. Fascinating book. Yet, I still voted for Trump. Oh wait..... There is more to Trump than one single issue like this...... That explains it.
no they are not retards however if a drug is not legal (whether it should be or not is beside the point) or if your employer has a policy against it's use, yet you still use drugs - you really have no excuse when you get arrested or lose your job.
Also if a prosecutor has to cut deal ot stuff like sesssions is making it more difficult to go after the bigger fish. oldfella i demind you to apologize for supporting trump.
So much for America being the land of the free...... Man, it's almost like a third party can profit from incarcerating people and the government is facilitating that.
sure - when you can tell me how voting for the alternative (Hillary) would result in an overhaul of the entire justice system any better or faster in the long run.
If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you. Paul is majority leader so he can bring the bill up for a vote any time he wants. Do you notice he isn't doing that?
No he isn't. Still, I find his excuses rather lame. "The Democrats made me vote to confirm Sessions! They said mean things about him! "
Obama ordered an end to privatized federal prisons, and she likely would have kept that policy in place.
