Where as demanding a right to reward prison inmates with a hundred thousand dollars in elective cosmetic surgery actually harms their case with most of the public. Concentrate on the important stuff, like people getting murdered, and stop making the fringe stuff, like rewarding criminals, your main message.

Hint: The ban on trans in the military is potentially a major way to bring more people on to your side because the optics are so damn bad. Only Trump could be this stupid. Take advantage of that gift to do some real advocacy.

I disagree - the military (at least the army) already does elective surgery. They will cut you up for any reason in a New York minute. Why you ask?
Because it's good training for the doctors/nurses/medical folks in general - the war is (pretty much) over - you want well trained surgeons, you need to give them hands-on training and plenty of it.
I don't see any problem with allowing trans-genders to serve, or with performing whatever surgery or putting them on any hormones/drugs treatments they need.
