couldn't find another thread. This mission landed a probe on Saturn's moon Titan in January 2005. Why it took 12 years to make this video, I don't know, but it's rather good. More
yeah I read that before posting to try to appreciate the humor. Leeroy is some gaming persona whose real-life player left an online game to grab a chicken leg, missing his fellow players' strategy session. This resulted in a resounding defeat (that most say would've happened anyway), "but at least he had chicken." If we were to apply this to Cassini: who is Leeroy; what was lost; and what is the chicken? Please contrast and compare.
The point is, you and your buddies have carefully crafted a plan of attack, and before you can implement the attack, this fuckstick goes running in (thus spoiling the all-crucial element of surprise for your plan to work), while screaming his name. So, in reference to Cassini, it's implying that the probe is running headlong into death, with no thought of the destruction which it is about to wreak, and that its own death is at hand. Sort of like a red neck saying, "Hold my beer," while jumping into a pool of hungry piranhas.
um, yeah. No that doesn't really work. Only if you have no clue. Not even then. Maybe if you're 15 and a gaming nerd.
Or you don't have a sense of humor. I'm pushing 50, and haven't seriously played video games since the early '90s, and I find it funny.
it would be ironic if Cassini had not been sacrificed to prevent any of the moons from being contaminated. Instead it was a perfect ending to a flawlessly planned and executed mission. Not a redneck belly flop. that's in the spacex thread.
