You've forgotten a thread you started with my real name that then described me in vulgar terms that you OPENLY ADMITTED was for the purpose of coming up in a google search of my name in order to defame me in real life.

You should've been permabanned for that stunt.

    So... phrenology and eugenics.

You forget Soma, that like most people here, I'm smarter and better educated than you.

Phrenology was a crude attempt to prove what was obvious to many people, namely, that variations in personality and mental abilities was a direct consequence of anatomical differences in the brains of people, and that such differences would manifest themselves physically in cranial shape and structure.

We now know there was some merit to phrenology thanks to an increased understanding of the human brain and the use of technologies such as fMRI. Remember, people once mocked alchemy, but now we know that it is possible to turn silver into gold. :)

Slippery slope. That you went there exposes the fact that you are arguing using emotions, not logic.

That's what @garamet said, too. I offer you to prove it with this 6th-grade math test: http://www.free-test-online.com/middle/6th_grade_math_quiz.htm

I don't share Soma's views on his ability to take a piss without accidentally shitting himself, let alone his deluded ideas of genetics.

Well, math is generally my weakest subject.
However, you should be telling us what your score was first.
Likewise, the onus is on you to share your credentials (several of mine are already public knowledge).

Otherwise, it isn't a slippery slope if it's accurate. (besides, you're looking for "dog whistle", which is an appeal to emotion).

You didn't take the epistemology elective, did you? That you try to validate phrenology as a bio science by showing an unrelated development in molecular science (because the example provided doesn't even read like metallurgy) supports this supposition. Looking at the article though, sounds more like they're simply synthesizing electrum and then re-refining it.

How unfortunate given that math is the litmus test for intelligence.

    100%. It's a 6th-grade math test. :brood:

You claimed you were more intelligent, thus the onus is on you to prove you are.

Believing in intellectual disparities along racial lines does not necessarily lead to eugenics. Just because you say it does, doesn't make it true. Unless you can show otherwise?

Dog whistle: a subtly aimed political message which is intended for, and can only be understood by, a particular group.

What is this supposed political message of mine and at whom is it aimed?

I am not validating phrenology. I'm merely pointing out that some of the ideas behind it had validity. It was the precursor to neuroscience just as alchemy was to chemistry.

That is not even remotely close to what I am referring.

yet you still haven't provided us with your score (screen cap, or you're lying-not that it matters now that others have posted results with answers)... what a shame you're scared to take your own challenges.

Now, if you want to talk real litmus tests of intelligence, like WAIS results...

looking at this, you don't really provide any answers or information...

    so, bye-ee...

Don't worry, I will always take any test I post before I post it. I will also provide results on any subsequent tests.

Also, I think it's telling that the one question you missed was the only algebra question on the test. ;)

not gonna catch up on a 5 page thread but...has anyone noted that the "Democratic Socialist" here is running on a platform that is, basically, The New Deal.

It's a testimony to how far right of center the Buckley-Limbaugh-Gingrich conservatives have moved the debate that FDR type politics are considered radically progressive.

Broadly, yes, but she has also gone way beyond the new deal at least sometimes. Like demanding open borders and abolition immigration controls. On that she is just a complete raving nutter barking at the moon.

She has been walking it back but yes she wants to abolish immigration and customs enforcement. She now says she just wants to reform it but during the primary she was in Brooklyn say she wanted it all gone.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.na...sio-cortez-democrat-abolish-ice-platform/amp/

It is well documented at the link. They will not claim they just want to reorganize but many radical Dems have indeed made it clear that they want the function gone. They want there to be no immigration enforcement. They are for open borders and want America to be flooded by any and all who want to come no matter if criminals, no matter how negatively this would effect existing citizens, no matter any consideration.

That plays well in some areas during the primary but you can now expect them to try to move back to the center for the general. That is still a very shitty position and I will not support someone who cares so little about the welfare of this nation's citizens.

From that very article you posted, here is the only quote from her I can find:

Unless you had open borders and no immigration enforcement prior to 2003 when ICE was founded, then someone being opposed to that agency isn't proof they want those things.

    How could she not?

I don't even think there is a Republican running against her. It's deep in NYC. So heavy in favor of Democrats that Republicans don't even bother.

No wait..... just looked it up. Republican Anthony Pappas is running against her. Has no campaign website, Facebook page, hasn't raised any money, and it looks like he hasn't even bothered to start campaigning yet. Plus the district is 6-to-1 in favor of Democrat registrations.

She could probably kill and eat a baby and still get elected. She just has to say it was a Republican baby. :ramen:

The whole smallpox-blanket thing is ridiculous.

You didn't need blankets to give smallpox to the American Indians. You just needed to come into contact with them. The same way Spain and the Portuguese were able to wipe out huge swaths of natives in South America, Central America, and Mexico.

It wasn't just smallpox either. You also had chicken pox, measles, influenza, bubonic plague, tuberculosis, typhus, malaria, yellow fever, various STD, and whooping cough. Even the common cold came too.

A population that had lived with these diseases for centuries came into with populations that never had any of these diseases. The result was a disaster for the natives throughout the Americas.

Hopefully she gets a better result at the coming election than the incumbent did.

I meant this as meaning that hopefully she gets a better result at the coming election then the incumbent did in his past few elections.

That's mainly as intellectual disparities have numerous origins, and anyone pushing for solely genetic origins would be treated as the hack they were.

The brain is a remarkably plastic organ, and social, environmental and educational inputs have a greater impact than on development then genes.

Healthy dendrite growth and synaptic pruning define the quality of intelligence, and they're driven by childhood and adolescent events, not genetics. The only potentially genetic element would be any controlling the level of myelination.

This would indicate that any disparity is a result of social interaction, which over a few generations would tend to correlate with race, but race would not be the causal link.

It is a D +28 district in NYC. The primary is the only election that matters as the general election result is a foregone conclusion.

Her result in the election will be seen as one indicator of her choice is a good direction or not though. If her win margin is higher than usual for that seat will will see other primaries follow a similar path. If it is closer than usual then you will see other primaries skew more to moderate candidates.
