You know, @Lanzman may not be around to see it, but there's a very good chance that in just over a million years, the star Gliese 710 will essentially collide with our Solar System, and send comets from the Oort Cloud haywire for millions more years, thereby causing a very high chance that we'll be hit and possibly more than once. I've even heard it suggested that the event will be so devastating that the results will make the Late Heavy Bombardment which created our moon and much else look like childs play - and no life would survive that.
Tasty sugary roaches would probably be the way we learn to control them because you cannot let something that sweet run around and breed at will. No one would make money and that would not happen.then they would find a way to make a shortage of roaches
Meh...we'll have a planetary shield by then. And hyperspace. And thousands of colonies out amongst the stars.
