I read your post and responded to it. Please tell the class the difference between a publicly traded for-profit corporation and a privately owned message board upon which you are allowed - at the discretion of the owners - to post for free.

Now a couple of month ago I might have taken this at face value, but I've been here long enough to get some idea of the lay of the land and frankly no, WF isn't full of horrendous fuckwits, nor in fact does everyone think everyone else is one. When you're perpetually the butt of the joke, when everyone makes it clear they think you are a fuckwit and are quite specific about it there comes a point when you start having to ask some pretty searching questions such as "Is this just me?"

Now I know TNZ well, very well in fact. I know the idea of it being a place which stifles debate and needs a release valve known as WF is utter bullshit, it's actually a vibrant engaging place with it's own share of problems just like here. It has much higher traffic and a lower tolerance for "debate" being a euphemism for "immaturity" but both sites are blessed with a wealth of intelligent thoughtful people and I think you'd be surprised how many of those are in fact one and the same. This place isn't made up of TNZ rejects at all, nor is it populated by those for whom TNZ was a wash out. On the contrary a lot of the traffic in here is people who are also posting there and vica versa, the main difference being the attitude this place has to people like you.

That doesn't mean conservatives, it means nasty offensive little people with nothing interesting or productive to say. There are a fair few conservatives both here and there I think highly of, (Ten Lubak, oldfella, federal farmer) there are also "liberals" (to simplify everything to US jargon) whom I can't stand. WF as a rule is more willing to be tolerant and I'd say that speaks well of the staff and posters, it shows patience and compassion, but it gives you free reign to damage the discourse, you abuse the freedoms you are given as a justification for acting like a spoilt child.

TNZ is actually just as lightly moderated (if not more so frankly - no one gets banned based purely on their TNZ conduct - at least these days) but has a culture of intolerance to bullshit.

I haven't been back to TNZ in years... (mainly because I lost my password adn couldn't be assed to reset it so I could speak with 80% of the same TNZ refugees as had come over here in the first few exoduseseseses).
It was stifling at the time and this was the necessary response back then, but I suspect this condition has changed back and forth more than a few times in a decade and a half-and on both boards.

I don't think I need to get into nearly twenty years of unimportant message board culture wars but even though he's simplified it I largely agree with The Flashlight. The early members of WF that turned it towards the politics centered board it is now were generally considered controversial and unwanted trolls that were being pushed out of TNZ due to tightening rules and overzealous moderation.

I'm not sure if your post says more about the current state of TNZ or if it's more revealing of the fact that Wordforge has changed drastically from the no holds barred forum it used to be until fairly recently.

And I seem to remember seeing people screaming bloody murder at every one of the admins almost any time someone got banned from this site, including that fucktard Polarslam who at one point had one-fourth of all the warnings given up just by himself.

On no other board would anyone expect those who openly troll a board owner no less with racist images would be allowed to return at all.

On no other board would there be any debate on a poster who gives his password to other users as to whether he should stay (which is the reason I banned gtardo, not his politics). Those same boards would have tossed the other people who went along with too.

On no other board would people purposely trolling with racial slurs as a "protest" for board policy be allowed to stay.

I think Neroon is still there, but he’s in charge of Sci-fi and Fantasy and it sucks.

Neroon might be a nice guy hard to tell on the basis of the evidence, but he's a fucking awful mod.

I know, but it still annoys me, for the same reasons that if I haven't gotten into a show by the second season, it usually feels overwhelming to get into it. I like having new threads instead of having to sort back ten pages in comglomerate threads.
