So Pelosi is passing Paygo to stop dem bills for her republican buddies in stealth as she hides behind a fight over the Wall. At least win the wall fight by using this barganing chip that helps republicans, but she is not even doing that small thing in exchange for putting a procedural stop on any democrat proposal, and not allowing a vote on them.

We know austerity is fail, and it is a Republican right wing tactic.

This is the first thing on the mind of Pelosi? This is how she is going to pay back the voters who wanted change and progress by limiting the house from even bothering to have a vote on it?

can't wait for more primary challenges to DINOs in 2020. The democrat party is a terrible alternative to the abysmal republican idiots.

The vote on Paygo is supposed to be tomorrow and the media is a bit hush hush about it. Only two dems are opposing it as of now and one of them is ocasio. https://theintercept.com/2019/01/02/nancy-pelosi-pay-go-rule/

I am not totally opposed to the idea of being within a budget, but this is way too far. At least allow a proposal to be voted on if the people want it, and this is a very conservative idea that limits mostly progressive ideas that are not seen as profitable by conservative bean counters. This is what Pelosi was about last time she was in charge, and now she is doing it again.

It is what we can expect when we try to lower the bar instead of raising it.

As long as we keep voting for the two parties and the lesser of the two evils, this is what we'll continue getting.

As long as they refuse to primary their crap with better people you are correct. I cannot believe that with all the people in either party this is the best they can offer, on either side. There is no reason for the dems to chose someone aside from Pelosi when the right is sinking lower and lower. The dems could run someone worse than their old bullshit and still be competitive.

Who is the republican's great new face? Mittens romnifeller. We basically have the same shit we did in the Obama years and the Bush years.

The Republicans I support so far are Rand Paul in the senate and Justin Amash in the House, but Paul keeps sucking up to Trump, so...

I might actually like Rand if he did not keep letting his republican disguise slip.

I don't think I'm going to ignore the rest of the things on the agenda and say paygo proves she sucks.

To me it's like baseball fans criticizing a trade - people who've been doing this at a high level for years probably know something I don't. In this case, it might be a calculation based on the knowledge that none of the really expensive progressive stuff through the senate anyway so use the ammo somewhere else.

I'd rather it not be there but there'll never be a politician I agree with on every policy point.

The real problem will come in a few years when the millenials figure out that the dems are going to continue to back Pelosi, the Clintons, and the rich diners of the establishment and they are going to squash the progressive movement every chance they get because the dems are republican light. Then the dems will get a third party split which will cripple both sides and we will get another republican wave. I hope I am wrong, but we almost saw it with Bernie when Clinton pulled this crap in her presidential run. If Pelosi fucks the progressive voters so hard they stay at home or go third party protest again next election we could see a second term of trump because she wanted to protect her corporate overlord donators.

All I am saying is a new face would have been far better than the same old corruption. It should not be a new elect, but they have at lest a hundred other people they could pop in there to show real change.

What's wrong with "paygo" (Pay as you go)? Seems like something that the GOP should've adopted as well.

it was there, they just had repeated votes to bypass it and spent the money anyway.

The GOP no longer has - if they ever had it in the last 40 years - ANY claim to be responsible when it comes to spending, or in a position to scold anyone else.
