What's interesting is that Phillips approached the group who was being taunted instead of the group that was doing the taunting. Anyone want to take guess on what would have happened if Phillips had beaten his drum inches from the black Israelites faces? Pretty sure that the end result of that would have been much worse than the mere smirk that got people all hot and bothered.

Oh? Now people are expected to let the racists and the homophobes speak? Sure they have every right to say what they want, but haven't we been told over and over again in the last few years that you DO NOT let them spew their hate? Why was it wrong for that group of teenagers to show that they do not accept it when people hurl racist insults towards American Indians or homophobic insults towards themselves?

YOU would have cheered these kids on if it had been those hateful shits from the Westboro Baptist Church that had needed drowning out.

Again: these boys did nothing wrong.

Also, no one treated anything "their exclusive property". What an incredibly stupid thing to say.

What do you mean "let" them speak? Those kids aren't the speech police. And since the March for Life was over by then, they were essentially nothing more than sightseers at that point. I'm not going to be fooled by your attempt to ascribe to them such noble motives. Herd mentality took over and they allowed themselves to be provoked by professional trolls into responding in kind. Wouldn't the Christian thing to do be to turn the other cheek and pray for those who had insulted them?

I can't get rid of the feeling, that, had these kids been part of a counterprotest to that March for Life, your reaction to that whole situation would be entirely different.

They weren't "counterprotesting." They didn't even know who the BHI people were, they thought they were Muslims. It was herd mentality, plain and simple. Even their sports chant reinforced it: our team is better than yours, rah rah rah.

Funny, how you can overlook the racism and homophobia coming from the Black Hebrew Israelites...

But then, you have someone dressed the wrong way, committing a "facecrime" to go after...

you are one tenacious, stubborn individual no doubt about it. You are going to see what you want to see in this very public "ink blot" test incident. Hey, you are entitled to your opinion which (in my opinion) is delusional.

Are you being serious or are you mocking right wingers? Because your argument seems to be the microcosmic flip side of the right's "Take a knee" thing. "They're being disrespectful" "It's not the time nor place to first amendment." etc.

Nobody is overlooking it. The BHI group is vile and hateful. They're also effectively marginalized. They go around insulting and trying to annoy people and never get anywhere. Unless somebody who should know better is foolish enough to give them the kind of response they are looking for. Now the whole world knows about them. Way to go, CovCath.

You mean the anthem protests? I'm not seeing it. Nobody there tried to "drown out" the anthem. And a group prayer would have been at least as much of an exercise of the first amendment as forming a rowdy, impudent mob.

What do you want me to say about them? Yes, they were extremely rude. That's kind of their thing. Nobody has to respond to them in kind. To put it in more contemporary parlance, "the snowflakes got triggered." Nothing to be proud of there.

Could you imagine how much worse the outrage would have been if instead of doing their school chant in response to the Black Israelites, they'd "taken a knee"? It would have probably caused rioting.

No, just never realized you watched FOX.

[I mean, where else could you have seen even a minute of negative coverage of the hate group during the coverage of this 'event'?]

Who would be rioting? It wouldn't have even made the news. It would have been a quiet and dignified way of signalling they weren't going to be provoked to anger, and nothing more.

A bunch of white kids in MAGA hats counter-protesting black protesters by taking a knee? You don't think it would have been seen as making a mockery of the Anthem protesters specifically and black people in general?

So basically, "just BHI being BHI"?

Is that the liberal version of "boys will be boys"?

I guess some people might see it that way… but the whole "take a knee" thing was your interpretation. I merely recommended a group prayer.

Are they breaking any laws? Then call the police. Are they just being obnoxious and annoying people? I don't see what's to be gained by confronting them. Arguing with crazy people and/or obvious trolls is usually a waste of time.

The "take a knee" thing was meant to be tongue in cheek. On the other hand, The Bible has a thing or two to say about praying in public.

 I wasn't suggesting they pray to attract attention to themselves. That was the whole problem to begin with. They took the BHI insults personally and made the whole situation all about them. I suggested they pray because the Bible says to pray for those who curse you, not "drown them out."
