Except for the blatantly right wing press outlets like FOX, the media didn't "support" Trump, at least not directly. They ran so many of his press conferences/campaign appearances uninterruped because then, as now, there's no telling what kind of crazy shit that psycho motherfucker is going to say from minute to minute. The verbal equivalent of a car wreck.

The problem with that approach, though, is that because they couldn't look away from the spectacle, they ended up giving him hours upon hours of free coverage.

I've hated 24-hour news channels long before it became fashionable, but them contributing to his election is another good reason to do so.

At any rate, I used to watch news that came through BBC America and it seemed okay. All news from all sources should be treated with healthy skepticism of course.

The BBC's political coverage is basically a disgrace at this point. They're worse than Sky for pushing the Tory line. If it wasn't for their other output I'd advocate cancelling the license fee.

The Beeb is required to have balance in its reporting, which unfortunately means occasionally giving unwarranted airtime to fringe groups like UKIP, the BNP or Dinner if they find him in the street ranting about darkies with a bottle in hand.

When it comes to Brexit, pretty much all the UK press are co-opted by the "well, the people voted for Brexit so we have to do it" bullshit whilst tip-toeing around the "if we'd known what a fucking mess the government would make of it, we'd have voted Remain" or "if we'd actually been told the facts about Leave, we'd have voted Remain" areas.

To be fair to the Beeb, it was indeed asking about the idea of the EU supporting another referendum or an extended decision process to EU reps just the other day.

It isn't just Brexit, and it isn't just having to include "fringe" groups in the coverage. It's the behavior of their presenters, particularly towards Corbyn's Labour. Have you seen Andrew Neil, or watched Newsnight lately?

I understand certain things are up for debate and discussion, but you do not have to give flat earthers or climate change deniers time without having some actual scientific proof they should be taken seriously. You should also have some fact checking on certain things. I understand at one point trickle down economics was possibly an idea to try. Today every time someone talk about things like tax breaks for the rich to bring jobs in they should be followed up by the facts that in every circumstance we have tried it has fucked our economy into a recession because nothing trickled down.

I can get things like the argument that at a certain point abortion should be a choice that started getting limited because it has become more of a baby than a group of cells. I don't mind those arguments being fought. However, when you have an agreement by all scientists except for a radical paid for fringe saying we are fucking the environment up with our pollution it is time to stop giving time to the opponents until they can come up with something that has scientific merrit. You don't just give some @Dayton3 time because they had a thought.
