TEXAS (KWES) - According to a report from the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association, crude oil production in Texas in 2018 reached an all-time high of 1.54 billion barrels.

The previous record was 1.28 billion in 1973.

The record production came despite a 40 percent decline in the price of a barrel of oil during 2018Q4. Employment in the industry also grew to 352,000 – 40 percent of the nation's total. TIPRO chairman Eugene Garcia added, "The favorable business environment, environmental stewardship, and science-based approach to regulatory oversight in Texas is a model for all oil- and gas-producing states."

Natural gas production also grew in Texas in 2018 to 8.8 trillion cubic feet.

Good news for the state of Texas and the U.S.

Incidentally do any of you know what one man in Texas has the most influence over the states fossil fuels industries?

Texas, thanks to its agreements with the U.S. government when it became a state has far more control over its natural resources than other U.S. states. For example Texas is allowed to control its off shore natural resources out to THREE TIMES further from its shore than other U.S. states.

Thus the Office of Texas Land Commissioner has a great deal of power. One reason that it is considered a "stepping stone" to the Texas governors office.

The oil industry produces goods vital to the global economy and overall pays pretty good wages. The only downside would seem to be the danger sometimes involved. The former center for the Norphlet Leopard offensive line lost one of his fingers in an oil field accident a few years ago. One of our former linebackers was also pulverized in an explosion a few years ago as well.

Not to mention those supertankers are amazing machines. I have a book on them by the way. Always hoped the proposed nuclear powered million ton supertanker would be built.

unfortunately I think there was something to do with the international crude oil markets preferring transactions of oil in 100,000 ton increments that put paid to that idea.

Not to mention the giant dump trucks used to transport tar sands (oil sands) in places like Fort MacMurray, Canada.

sorry kid, but if you want them over here you will need to bring them yourself. I have no reason to do that dirty work for you. Good try to troll me into doing it for you because you are too cowardly to do it yourself. Seriously, do you really think my master plan involved stripping you of your permaban from this place?

Ah yes. The master troll is terrified of wordforge moderators. Wow!! They ordered him not to troll me through PM once and now he cowers like a timid little boy.

And I'm not going to be permabanned here Tererun. Keep claiming that. I've had worse lies told about me.

But you're not half the man that @ed629 or @Faceman are.

    And they are assholes.

Is this really where you want to go after screaming "Save me! the big bad tererun is going to hurt me!" to two different sets of board moderators?

You got something to prove tough guy. Please do prove yourself. Show me you can actually touch me and then we can play a game. Otherwise I am just going to mock you until your permaban because I can.

However, if you actually want to do better I told you where to go.
