He's angry, a lot. I've been helping him channel it via boxing and as he's rapidly starting to surpass my meagre talents he's now training with a friend who is an ex Commonwealth silver medallist.

He also has a strong sense of right and wrong, which can be a dangerous combination.

Last year he got his head stamped on by a gang for intervening when they were picking on a boy with cerebral palsy, spent a few weeks with severe swelling and struggling to speak, but made it quite clear he was proud of himself. Funny thing is now one of the instigators has decided to jump ships and be his friend, possibly figuring the guy who'll take a beating for you is preferable to the ones who'll dish one out when they have numbers on their side but leave you to face the consequences.

Sorry to hear about that. Let him know it gets better when you are out of high school. That is a really hard time where really stupid things happen. I remember being all full of rage and not knowing what to fight. You are just learning about the world and all the bad things in it while you are forced to be around other children who are all forming their own groups and the drama gets pumped up.

Way back when I suffered through it I was trying to keep my secret of being trans with this overwhelming compulsion to come out. It would have made it so much worse for me. I went home and told my parents and learned what that word meant and never wanted to use it again.

But on a more serious note, we've seen something in the last three years that I'd never thought I'd see in my lifetime. American citizens pouring illegally into Canada and asking for asylum.

It happened quite a bit during the Vietnam War with draft dodgers and, indeed other conflicts including Loyalists from the War of Independence and the War of 1812, but I never thought I'd see this shit happen in peacetime. Crazy.

The Haitians had temperary protective status due to the coup in Haiti going back to the mid1990's and have been told that farce is 20 years over and now it is time for them to go home. Thus they are also asylum shopping.
