See, after Alf Clausen left as composer, I knew shit like this would happen.

Sorry, I found it funny, especially with the homage to old Broadway musicals. Those who don't know them can't appreciate the joke. :P

I haven’t watched the Simpsons since the 90s, so the production value of this vid seems high to me. :clyde:

I've watched all the musicals and...yeah, no. The can can at the end was lame.

Fairly sure Awesome Possum and Dicky were lamenting the fall of a show that should've been put out of our misery twenty years ago moreso than not getting the reference.

This. Like I said, it's soulless. There's little to no love, empathy, or warmth, it's all old memes and paint by numbers. The show's a corpse of it's zombie self.

Compared to, say, the Music Man parody in "Marge vs. the Monorail," it's kind of lyrically clumsy.

    Marge vs The Monorail

    Two Dozen and One Greyhounds

    Bart After Dark

    Homer Simpson vs New York

    Trash of the Titans

    A Fish Called Selma
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JlmzUEQxOvA

All of these are fantastic, creative, and clever. They put this latest one to shame.

Edit: I tried to fix it, but it looks like you can only post 5 videos. "A Fish Called Selma" has my personal favorite musical, "Planet of the Apes" starring Troy Maclure.

If you close your eyes, it sounds exactly like a terrible Family Guy bit.

Family Guy's musical parodies are generally pretty on-point (with "A Bag of Weed" for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang's "Me Ol' Bamboo" being possibly the best).

Stopped watching the Simpsons regularly probably 20 years ago.

Futurama, on the other hand, was consistently great from first episode to last. Just a way more interesting show with a much broader canvas to play in.

I still like the Simpsons Treehouse Of Horror episodes because they tend to do more off the wall stuff...

I found out that all the musical bits are recorded with a full 40 piece orchestra, which is amazing attention to detail.

I'm hoping The Orville does a musical episode eventually. :?:

Animaniacs did it first, and they did it the best.

They were the first toon I know of to do decent musical parodies.

True fans of The Simpsons only like the shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show and think the entire standalone show is garbage.

ummmm……..okay. But the Simpsons SUCKED as shorts on Tracy Ullman. It wasn't until about the third season as a standalone show that they really got rolling.

Damn that's a good parody of America! That melody was off enough to drive me nuts yet its originality while staying faithful to the rythm was a work of beauty.
    Also, the lyrics

I had a cassette in high school called the Simpsons Sing The Blues. The lead off song was Do the Bartman, which became very popular around that time.
