I just saw an article about Sarah Sanders stating that
"Trump should be celebrated, not impeached."

    So I asked why.
Now I extend that question here to the Trump supporters of WF:

    Why SHOULD Trump be "celebrated"?

I'm not a supporter, but I think he should be celebrated as a cautionary tale.

The lesson is, don't elect moronic failed reality TV celebrities to the highest office in the land.

Democrats could fix this by holding an impeachment hearing vote and start official impeachment hearings and issue actual subpoenas.

Not the current impeachment inquiry farce that is going on right now.

But Democrats don't want to hold that vote. They know they don't have the votes to win a impeachment hearing vote in the House because they know what they got, the phone call, is bullshit.

Also you can't claim obstruction of justice. This person wasn't subpoenaed. It says it right in the NYT story in the tweet: "In a statement, Mr. Schiff and the chairmen of the two other committees leading the investigation said they would promptly issue a subpoena for Mr. Sondland’s testimony and documents." Without a subpoena there is no obligation for the White House to allow anyone to testify in front of Congressional Committee.

And even with a subpoena the administration has the right to claim executive privilege and hash it out in the courts. That's also not obstruction of justice.

You can keep making jokes but if they really had the goods in that phone call they'd have voted on an impeachment hearing vote a week ago.

All the Democrats are doing is trying to drag this out to the 2020 general election. They aren't going to actually ever impeach Trump because they know two things. One, they don't have the votes in the House to impeach. Two, they will not have enough Senators to convict in the event they scrounge up 219 House votes to impeach.

So they aren't even going to bother and all you lefties are going to be left hanging.

    Again.

    Negative Ghostrider.
This is sound politics by the Dems.
Moscow Mitch has said that while he has to take up impeachment it will be a quick up and down vote. As is there will be no Senate trial.
So the case will have to made in the House. In order to try and persuade the public (and thus enough R Senators to grant a Senate trial in more than name only) the actual impeachment hearings will need to hit hard and fast, not the drips and drabs of the Mueller investigation. Which means that the Ds will need to gather as much information BEFORE the actual impeachment hearings. They need to run down every lead and get to every road block NOW. Thus all the fact finding during the investigation.

    One problem with your sentence......

The White House didn't release those texts.

Those texts were released by House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff on Oct 3.

Here's the letter he wrote releasing them. Also he didn't release them all. He only released parts of them and the people in the texts are complaining about the texts not being in context because of that.

The more likely outcome of this entire process is along the lines of what happened with Nixon. At some point, the light bulbs will go off within the GOP caucus and they'll realize that Trump is more of a liability for their own political future. They'll basically force him to resign under threat of voting in favour of impeachment. In the end, politics is all about saving your own ass.

Nixon resigned and within six years the GOP stormed back with the Reagan landslide.

The only wild card in this affair is Trump's ego. I'm not so sure it would allow him to resign.

Not necessarily. There is a big difference between the House rules now and the rules during the previous impeachments. Used to be they had to vote on formal impeachment hearings in order to be granted more subpoena powers, but those rules have since been changed. The rules now grant full unilateral subpoena powers to the majority party without a formal vote. I'll give you three guesses which party was the majority when those changes were made, and the first two don't count. :)

So there's really no good reason anymore for them to hold a formal vote before or even during the investigation.

The impeachment hearings are where you gather the evidence. That's the point of the hearings. It's why House rules established by the Democrats and Republicans after Watergate state that both sides will have subpoena power and investigative powers and that the White House will also have the right to submit evidence and be part of the process.

The way it's being done now is preventing the Republicans and Trump from being part of the process and is only going to make it look political in front of the country.

If that's what you want than by all means go for it. You'll just pay in 2020 win Trump wins by beating you all over the head about a political impeachment and you'll probably lose the House as well.

That is how things should normally go.

Why does the White House need to be the one to release them?

Schiff has all the texts. He only released some of the texts. Out of context.

So why doesn't he release them all? What's he afraid of?

You guys keeping hanging your hopes on Schiff but Schiff is a moron that keeps disappointing you time and again.

    But whatever......

YOU made the claim that the people in the texts were upset. I haven’t heard that. But if it were the case, if the full texts would provide context that would lessen how guilty the texts make the WH look a person would think that the WH would be rushing to publish them.

    But they aren’t.

So....the subpoenas being issued are just fake subpoenas? How do you figure? Congress has the explicit authority to investigate matters and an impeachment hearing vote, while customary, is not required.

How do you figure it's farce?

They don't have to. Plus, Congress is currently in recess.

Come on. Even Trump admits that they have the votes.

Doesn't matter. Trump telling him not to testify is witness tampering which is......wait for it....obstruction of justice.

So, you think stonewalling and running out the clock is an effective tactic? Would you have supported that for Clinton and the Bengazi hearings?

You're forgetting, impeachment was supposed to empower Trump and push him to 2020 untouchable.

Refusing to reveal evidence on the basis of what amounts to nothing more than "I don't have to" is hardly what one would call transparency.

I don't know, but for the Benghazi hearings - which Kevin McCarthy openly said afterwards was only about damaging her election possibilities, she willingly showed up and testified for 11 hours and didn't do it Lewendowski style.

The GOP will never give you what they demand from you.
