@Ancalagon, I've had some heavy cash outflow at the moment (moving, major downsizing, etc., wrestling with legal documents in the Age of COVID-19, where it takes three weeks just to get a document notarized - slipped through the notary's mailbox in the rain and then sent to L.A. County which may or may not have someone at the helm whenever I contact them). Then there's :bang: with UPS Ground... you don't want to know.

But you don't want to know anything about me, do you? It terrifies you that I'm older than your Mom but you and I still agree on so much. (I love it when I post something and, five minutes later, you post the same thing as if you've just discovered it. Him's such a cute widdle puppy, isn't he?)

Take me off Ignore, chickenshit, and despite the chaos of my current life, I will donate to your friend's cause. Not because of you, but because your friend is doing something other than styling himself The Smartest Guy on WF.

    Up to you, Ginger. :bailey:

@Ancalagon's ego aside, mods, should this thread be stickied before it falls into indifference and the fact that so many here have been furloughed and don't know when/if they'll ever be coming back? Not something The Smartest Guy on WF concerns himself about. :garamet:

Just sayin', even though I'm hemorrhaging cash ATM, I may donate to this anyway, not because of chickenshit @Ancalagon, but simply because he's using WF to make us aware of it.

If he takes me off Ignore, I might double my contribution, even if he puts me back on Ignore once I do because Reasons. :bailey:

I only give to charities I can research. Sorry, but I tried to look things up. First off the adblocker on the site stopped me cold and I don't raise it for spam unknown. 2. I have been on the internet long enough to see charity scams pop up and the only thing I can search is a name from digimon. Been there with enough anime fans setting up sob stories and collecting money for their "charities." I need a little more before I go sending some guy's paypal account money I have no idea is getting to any charity. Why can't I send it directly to the charity, or is the charity the erndigimon charity? I see some patreon accounts looking for some contributions under that name. It is just screaming some dude on the internet looking for some cash flow.

I am just saying, I have been giving to charities I know work, and I know how they give back to the community. I could go give 20 to caridad house that I know feeds, provides medical care, and helps out with donations to poor families and people who need a hand right now. I know that money goes to the people it is supposed to because they are not hiding shit, and I have been there.

Not for nothing, but I have seen too many online beggars with a sad story. I want a corporate name that I can look up and see if they deny help to things like LBGT people, non-christians, or others they feel not worthy.

So it is not that you do not want to run into a scam that wastes the money you want to go to needy people. It is for your internet vanity and wanting to get off of ignore? I could give you credit for not wanting to send money to every internet attempt to get charity. That makes sense to me as there are a ton of scammers who can write a good sad story and make a good cover for their scam.

what the fuck is wrong with you? If youi have the money and think those people will get the charity and benefit from it then go send it. Go send it to someone else if you have it. There are good places who help people locally that could do some things for the people who are suffering worse than ever. This shows the depths of your depravity.

I can tell you, after reading this I have to say the people around here who badmouth you are way the fuck off. You suck more than any of them have told me.

As the article says he hasn't set up a charity yet. It's just a dude making sack lunches at this point.

I'm not sure what you'd like to know?

I've known Ernie about 20 years now. While we grew up in the same small town I went to 'The Academy' (the private school) and he went to 'The Middle/High School' (public school) and we were two years apart anyway. We didn't become friends until college when we were both at Spring Hill in Mobile. Being Atmore Kids we hung out and became good friends.

About a year ago, after a divorce he moved back to Atmore. Got a job as a bartender/manager at a place in town. When this all went down he was laid off and wanted to do something. He took this up.

Feel free to not give if that isn't enough for you.

I'd like to give but I don't have PayPal or any similar apps or anything like that. That said I looked at the website - is there a way to just donate with a debit card? Not making excuses, I'm just trying to find a workaround to donate without ernestDigimon or the other ways you mentioned.

You can donate with a credit card via paypal. You don't need to have an account.

you don't need an account for paypal? Hmmm....this explains a charge on my bank statement then. A couple of weeks ago I ordered something and forgot where I put the confirmation number and other info. Anyway the items never arrived, but I saw a charge on my account for about what I paid for the items but I know I don't have a paypal account. So I guess I paid with my debit card but it got processed through paypal. Okay I'll try to figure it out then and hopefully I won't FUBAR it up. I'm going to bed now so I'll tackle it when I get up tomorrow and have my coffee. Thanks for the info!

Check again. PayPal is something you have to actively join, with a username and a password that are confirmed through your email account. Either someone who knows you has joined in your name, or you've been phished.

Like I said, I have a really nice place down the road that does things locally to give to. Still, I can give you some advice for some people who are always looking for some new charities to promote. @Shirogayne might complain about this first one, but Doug walker over at channel awesome does spots for start up charities at the end of all his current shows for the nostalgia critic. For all the complaints about what he has done he does have a large following of people who like to contribute to projects like this. The people who watch him like to give to helpful things. I am only flagging her as she has heard a lot more about their negative side. I have not heard of him ripping off any of the charities he mentions, but there is enough there that your friend might want to watch himself taking any help from them.

I would also say go to the Cult of Dusty. Dusty himself seems to work more on the animal donation side, but he seems to be willing to do handshaking networking between small charities. He is also small enough that a five dollar donation to his charity seems to get his attention and through the spam.

There used to be this charity group that was connected with the littlekuribo crew and did a charity event where they would play the world's most boring video game for a weekend. It was something like a desert bus to nowhere or something. They might help network things.

Your friend may be beyond those smaller levels, but if he is doing the legwork and looking for help with charitable events those are some starting points he might like to check out. Especially if he is starting out I would say hit up some of the youtube channelers for a shout out. He may also find some of them can help out with a more decent presentation of his organization and what they do. Sometimes people cannot give money, but they can give the support or connections needed to make it. These are just some people who I have seen with some dedication to helping others out.

Not true. If the person has a paypal account you can send money to them with a valid debit or credit card as a single transaction. I had my paypal account suspended a long time ago because of a lie from a buyer and was still able to purchase from other sellers using paypal because I did not go through my paypal account. I have also owned a business that ran on paypal to do credit card transactions for online reservations. I should also note a lot of convention business runs through credit cards that come through paypal.

So why don't you take your bullshit in this thread and STFU because your bullshit is stinking pretty rancid.

Oh, and I should also say a huge resource he should check out is his state small business association site. From the standpoint of establishing businesses of all sorts myself they have a lot of information. Yes, you have to read into it, but your friend should really be protecting himself with a 5013c charity filing. There are all sorts of things you have to do even when you are trying to help out others. If he is taking money in on his own the IRS is going to come looking for taxes on it. Paypal reports all income to the IRS.

I am not thrilled about the government, but don't let your friend have his good natured act be used to take his shit and destroy his dreams because he did not follow their rules. The SBA has resources for how to establish a charity and you could probably find places who could file the corporate forms for as little as 600.

I see what my sister goes through as she runs a charity. If your friend is making articles about his charity I would assume he really wants to do something. Running a charity becomes a lot about grant writing and donations. There are a ton of grant organizations out there from government to private. That is where you are probably going to find your big jump start up money. There is a ton of info online about writing for grants.

It seems daunting at first because now you are getting more into business than doing things, but the stability, organization, and funding of the charity business is how you make leaps into helping far more than a couple of people. The reason why I am saying this is because it seems your friend has his cart way before the horse. Good advertisement is awesome, but money does not just turn into help.

When I created my businesses, which is what a charity is, they had either a low start up cost or money backing. They ran because I had to learn how to create a business. How to do all the bookeeping and administrative things. Some people are all dreams and just want to do good. I can't say that is a bad thing, but if they are not willing to deal with learning business operations and establishing the proper legal structure bad things happen. It would be better to find a running charity and volunteer your effort if you can't do the full creation of the business. This is not about looking serious to people who are donating or giving grants. That is important, but this is more about doing it so it works and does not blow up in his face.

For instance I also want to be charitable and help people out. But down the road is a great charity that I mentioned. All that good I want to do already has a structure and I can put effort and money into it. It might do your friend some good to see if there is already something going on around him that he can enhance with his participation.

WHOA! Glad I waited until morning. That could explain why I never received what I ordered yet there is a paypal charge on my bank statement. When I was going through the process of ordering somebody could have done something on my behalf, like Wells Fargo opening up accounts to boost their productivity numbers.

That said if I can find a way to safely donate I will. I like "local" charities like Anc's friend is doing because they directly help those in need with no middle man.

Both paypal and cashapp are safe and respected. Cashapp is for your phone (their website has limited functions). Paypal is for everything.

Neither should be debiting your bank unless you authorize it.

    Boomers.

maybe I did authorize it as part of the normal (if not typical) ordering process. Just my luck though! :( 99 percent of the time whenever I order something I save the page in my favorites and write down the details of the order and hang it up on my bulletin board. The one time I forget to do this the order is FUBAR. I tried to call paypal customer support and the recording said they are shut down because of the virus.

I could ask my bank to trace the charge further to see the exact name of the company I ordered from - online statements generally have a lot of gibberish associated with charges but don't have the actual info you need. I don't know if that's something that could be handled through the drive-thru window since banks are closed to actual face-to-face issues.

I'll try calling my bank's main office and quoting what the actual charge says to see if they can trace them that way. Worst case I lost about thirty bucks and somebody else got my items. Most companies will send you replacements if the items are stolen en route, or at least that has been my experience.

What a shit show this place has become. How right I was to walk away. Pathetic doesn't begin to describe it.

So Ancalagon is wanting folks to send money to some random guy making sack lunches for the poor and posting PayPal links? And Margaret is so desperate for drama that she's picking fights with Tereturd and begging Anc to take her off ignore?

My curse is that I remember Wordforge's glory days, and it's painful to see the vultures continuing to pick at the carcass of a once entertaining site. :(
