If it’s close and the states that it turns on take a week or more to deliver results (b/c they aren’t ready for the amount of mail in ballots they receive) then shit can get real bad. Especially since at least in Washington late arriving ballots trend left (old people vote early). I can see a scenario where a swing state is called for Trump on election night but then it turns Biden as the count goes on. We could have Bush v Gore but much much worse.

In Washington votes aren’t certified until a month after the election. If SCOTUS has to get involved then you have pushed past the EC vote. What happens then?

If states can't get their delegates to the EC, then perhaps no one gets to 270, and the choice of president is punted to the House. Based on how it will vote by state delegation, that means Trump wins. That's all it takes.

I think a lot these people are more loyal to their jobs and what they originally swore in to do than they are to a clown like Trump. If they support a completely tyrannical move like that, how much harder are their jobs going to get? Immeasurably. I bet a lot of them can’t wait to turf the guy

This assumes that there will be some "strong-arm" tactic to stay in power... such as a military coup or something. That is asinine, I agree. But I could see some legal acrobatics happening... Such as him contesting the results of the election and the DOJ and rigged courts capitulating to him...

The official EC vote in Congress doesn't happen until the first week of January. States have their certifications long before that. Even Bush vs. Gore didn't take longer and that was held up for weeks on legal challenges. I could see some states being too close to call and the eventual loser wanting to contest it if there are "rumors" of shenanigans that partisan media loves to spew out. But that could happen in any election year.
