Finally got around to listening to Springsteen's latest album, Letter to You. Holy crap the Boss still has it, even at 71. "House of a Thousand Guitars" and "If I Was the Priest" are standouts. Hard to believe that Springsteen sat on "Priest" for almost 50 years.
Western Stars is a damn good recent album of his as well. Letter to You is the first Springsteen album I've ever pre-ordered.
I mean, I think Springsteen is over-rated (he never really did it for me) but I don't mind that others like him. Not sure why @Tuckerfan thought this post deserved "TehBaba" rep.
No. I don't agree with much in the below article, but the point I've quoted below hits home for me. https://www.wweek.com/music/2016/03/16/the-case-against-bruce-springsteen/
That guy’s an idiot. Springsteen grew up pretty poor and very blue collar in a town a lot like Youngstown. He’s nowhere near the top of the list of my favorite artists, but I’ve always enjoyed his work.
The Boss has the high honor to have performed the best version of one of my All Time Top Three Songs. Saw him live a few years ago and thought, holy shit that guy in his mid 60s still has it. The show lasted until they literally turned off the stadium lights and boy did he never get tired after, I think, 3:40 hours of rocking out.
This. "Cover Me" is the only one of his songs I have on any playlist, but from what I know of the guy, he's the real deal who knows what the hell he's talking about.
