Biden has urged us to do this.

I'll give our resident right-wingers some time to clean them first, as they might have been soiled today.

But I will stand in them.

Tell me your fears, explain them. Don't just say "Dems will do X", give us some evidence.

If it's there, I will either support you or carefully explain why it's nonsense. And you can walk in the shoes of the minorities of America.

I mean, after the cops broke their legs, they sure don't need 'em.

But let's listen to how YOUR day went.

    They need to fear us.

Ed and I are getting OF pregnant and then get him aborted.

While he's under, we're taking his guns and teaching his kids about the great socialist society that will be Georgia.

My biggest fear is that Biden will die or step down and Harris will be president. Why? She was the most liberal senator when she was in the senate and her record as a prosecutor is pretty bad. My second biggest fear is Biden continuing Obama era drone strikes on American citizens without due process and he continues to go along with the Military Industrial Complex and the forever wars. Why? The past forty years says he will. I don't think Biden will be horrible, but he's going to have to hold back the radicals in the Democratic Party and I'm not so sure he can. My third biggest fear is taxes go up. Why? Because if your a Democrat, you raise taxes, it's what you do.

I've touched on it. It's from my family history. My Great-Great-Grandad was an officer in the 9th US Cavalry during the Indian Wars, and during the Ghost Dance crisis he was in charge of a bunch of scouts...who were Native American...so he had a lot of face time with some of the major players at the time. Red Cloud, Spotted Elk, Big Foot, and others...but the one that I thought had the coolest name was Young Man Afraid of his Horses. It turns out the proper interpretation was lost in translation. His name really meant that other people feared his horses.

So on TrekBBS, someone hacked my account (Botlrokit I think it was) and when I reported that someone was posting with my account, they banned me. :wtf: So I was trying to think of a new name and that name came to me. I actually had a couple of horses at the time, but they were really nice and nobody was afraid of them. I think Journey was playing at the time, and I always heard it as "Don't wanna live without shoes...", and it clicked.

Thank you... that's beautiful, and I appreciate your sharing.

The beautiful/damnable thing about WF is that the longer we know each other, the more we (except for the trolls and the looking-for-reasons-to-be-offended snowflakes) come to learn about and respect each other. :mrsa:

If Harris becomes president, the Republicans will be more likely to win in '24.

As there is huge bipartisan support for the military industrial complex, I think we can assume that's going to continue. But it's no change from Trump.

Whatever taxes Biden raises, I am confident you're not rich enough to be affected.

This cane currently resides in an umbrella stand at my mom's house. It was a gift to my Great-Great Grandad from Red Cloud. :D

OH.. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/taxes/biden-tax-calculator/ I think my tax will go up under Biden by $700 next year..

I'm already getting clobbered on taxes. And now with the house in Arizona added, I expect this year to be a nightmare in that regard.

Worth it to get rid of Trumpy the Clown, tho.

*rump's tax plan fucked me royally because it eliminated every business expense deduction I used to be able to take.

Using that Forbes calculator linked above indicates that our taxes won't go up, which is good because they're already too goddamned high. :garamet:

If you think that's neat, I've got this guy's pocket watch. He gave it to one of my Great Great Grandad's Indian scouts, who gave it to my Grandad, who gave it to me...and it still works! :)

I think when we actually stand in the Trumpistas shoes we see a huge amount of anger and some really disjointed thought. Maybe it is shortsighted thought. I can make some extrapolation based on my thoughts but it is very clear they think much differently than I do. That does not make things horrible in itself. I do not think like parents do. I do not think like people who have to have status symbols do. I clearly do not have the same ambitions in life others do.

It is just clear to me that their motivations are fundamentally different than mine. It is sort of like trying to explain gender dysphoria to a person who has no experience with the feeling. On basic human levels you can have some understanding, but the deeper you go the more things get fucked up.

The only thing I have to say about unity is we do not all need to think alike or like the same things. To have unity we need a social contract and respect for the other's existence. When the other person's inherent identity is based on disrespecting certain people's existence in the community we have to reject that person because they reject the contract. Love trump all you want, but when you start harming people in the community because that is who you want to be you violate our social contracts and laws. You don't have to like black people, but you cannot destroy their lives. You do not have to like GLBT people, but you have to respect them in public spaces.

We cannot have unity until we have a social contract that includes respect for the existence of everyone.

Ah Crap! I misremembered my family history. I was having doubts and so dug up that pocket watch and double checked the engraving. It wasn't that guy's pocket watch...it was this guy's pocket watch! Boo-Hiss. I don't know why I thought it was Miles.

    1. Kamala becomes president- I'm not a big fan of Kamala, either. But, having her as president is far less scary than in 2016 and looking toward a trump presidency.
    2. Uh, you'll have to refresh my memory, I do not recall Obama ordering drone strikes on American Citizens. As for the
    A) Military Industrial Complex - Especially if you're using the last 40 years as an example - Republicans have put forth, voted, and supported legislation ever increasing funding to the military industrial complex budge - whilst simultaneously refusing to support the men and women who would suffer for such actions
    B) Forever Wars - You do know who got us into these wars in the middle east, right? and neither Obama nor trump pulled us out despite campaign promises saying they would. I don't know about you, but to me that says there is a lot nuances regarding our troops in the middle east to which I do not have access. So Kamala would most likely continue in those same lines. Or, she could say "I don't care about those nuances and will bring those troops home". Either way, it's not like she will be the one starting a war in the middle east.
    3. lol. taxes?!? Conservatives always say this when a Democrat runs or wins. My taxes increased more under both Bush and trump and were lower under Obama.

If I remember right Obama ordered a drone strike on some american who went and joined the terrorists overseas. Don't ask me, it is manufactured right wing hate. I am quite OK with our military killing someone who has joined the opposition. If you want the right to a trial you should have probably stayed in america and gotten arrested.
