There have been one or two where I said "What is wrong with this person?" . . . but The Christmas That Almost Wasn't is the first MSTed movie where I genuinely wondered about the creators' sanity. I get that it's imported from Italy and maybe there were translation issues, but there's gotta be a cracked skull or two somewhere along the line.
We went to the live show last night and both Eegah! and the sekrit mystery movie were quite funny. There were several Tom Servos and other characters in the audience. But the big takeaway is that Joel thinks Season 12 is going to happen!
Business Insider ranks MST3k pretty highly in a list of "notable" Netflix originals, based on Rotten Tomatoes scores. You know, "notable". As in, "Netflix thinks the show is so notable they leave it out of their screensaver and commercial that promote about eighty of their other shows." Robots? Nobody's enticed by robots. Now, a clip of a guy sitting at a computer, that'll pull in the viewers.
S2 announced during the Turkey Day marathon, which is the only reason to make us wait so long. Still,
First episode is just so very good. One might even say it's . . . well, spoilers. Everyone's over the slight roughness of the first season, it's smooth, it flows, it's all funny and it gets very funny indeed sometimes. The movie is Mac and Me, which if you're like me you've heard of but confused with the dog movie, but this is an ET knockoff. They're using the short season as an asset, giving it a theme and introducing that theme with flair, and I am just. So. Pumped for the rest of the season.

Iiiiiiiiit's back! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mst3k/makemoremst3k This time the plan is to go full indie, with an online subscription service for access to a rotating schedule of episodes and events. Over $1.4 million already pledged.
On a related note, a few months ago I discovered a new channel had been added to our cable and on Friday nights they show old MST3K episodes going all the way back to the first season.
That seems to be a popular sentiment in the Kickstarter comments. The live show we attended was fun and I think I remember her so that's a good sign?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mst3k/makemoremst3k/posts/3167216 Six episodes! Emily will trade off with Jonah! Joel will host an ep or two!! There's gonna be a watch party and a Monday night livestream!
^ So the newbies riff a supermarket video starting about 15:00 in (same one as the live tour) and then about 44:00 everyone starts watching the Hobgoblins episode.
Joel commented that you have to work hard to create puppets that bad. And then they realized the hobgoblins were basically stuffed animals
https://collider.com/mst3k-kickstarter-2021-joel-hodgson-interview/ A really good interview with Joel about Mike and jumpsuits and singing and other stuff.
One thing one of the newbies pointed out was Hobgoblins starts out almost identical to Return of the Living Dead, I totally agree.
