This time he actually shoots his eye out, and gets chewed to death by the Bumpus Hounds while waiting for the ambulance.
Trailer! Title is "A Christmas Story Christmas". It kinda looks like a mashup of Christmas Story and Christmas Vacation.
Okay, Christmas Story happens in 1940. Peter Billingsley has aged 39 years. So this one has to take place in 1979. We'd better not see cellphones and PCs.
Higbee's still being downtown seems implausible, even for the '80s (which I assume is when it's set, based on the decor, the TV set, and Ralphie's age). It'll probably be fun, and I'll watch it if I have the opportunity (can't remember if I have HBO Max or not), but I can't see it achieving classic status like the original did.
'79 looking like 80's is fine. '77 to '79 were starting to look like 80's, and 80-82 had residual 70's to shrug off. It was a gradient morphing rather than a cut off.
The Old Man... Don't let him kick you in the face. Oh fuuuuudge.... I just cancelled my HBO-Max subscription because there wasn't anything on there I wanted to watch two weeks ago.
