The girlfriend got me watching Downton Abbey over the last couple weeks and I have to say . . . although it's not a show I would have sought out on my own, it's so well written and performed that it sucked me right in. Only bit we have left to watch is the movie. And now there's a second movie in production as well. Any other fans here?

Yeah. I think on HBO Max or whatever their streaming service is.

My youngest daughter is a huuuge Downton Abbey fan.

As much as my wife is into Brit TV, I'm surprised she hasn't gotten into it yet.

I tried to book a tour of Highclere Castle when I was in the UK in early 2020 (pre-COVID). They were closed for the season but offered me a private tour for the equivalent of about USD$5,000.

    Um... no.

I didn't really watch it properly (other than the movie) but it was "on" in the room and I caught snippets. Great for escapism but a completely inaccurate portrayal of history and class relationships, probably consciously so. See also Bridgerton from the same people - which was on recently - and which is more genuinely awful.

I liked how unrealistically progressive they were. Looked like a classic case of rewriting history, BBC style.

A great deal of Murdoch Mysteries will disappoint you then, too.
