Are we really positive a sharknado cannot happen? Maybe we should do the math on that again just to be sure. Obviously not in the red room, but somewhere. However, I will be holding out for lemur lesions. Lemur lesions lead to sloth scabs. Do I need to go on?
CDC: To reduce the risk of spreading the disease, the CDC recommends avoiding sexual contact with monkeys. Anti-Maskers: The CDC isn't the boss of us! Were going to the zoo to run a train on Curious George!
OK, so don't fuck roadkill or someone who looks like @TheLonelySquire 's mom and we will be fine. Are we sure there is not more we should do? What does that Fauchi fellow say? Just wonderin.
What in the fuck is monkey pox and can I wear a mask and continue to order my groceries online to avoid it?
After reading further I just need to avoid having sex with @We Are Borg , @Ten Lubak , and @14thDoctor. Close call.
So, a number of my coworkers have exhibited skin conditions they find unusual in recent days. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I’m wondering…
Considering I live within ten miles of a border crossing, it's probably best that we cancel our plans for tonight, just to be on the safe side.
Real talk, but apparently, it's a cousin to the eradicated smallpox virus. The smallpox vaccine has been shown to provide some protection in previous m-pox outbreaks. While it's spreading a bit more quickly than usual, it's got nowhere near the contagion rate of COVID, so just lay off having Tuttle suck your balls and you'll be good
My mother tried to get me smallpox vaccinated as a baby in the 70's and they said they didn't make the vax anymore even then. I dunno where these lucky bastards who have it got theirs.
The disease was eradicated in 1980, and the bulk of the vaccine that was produced in the years leading up to it was used in countries outside of the US. I think after 9/11 there was talk of giving the vaccine to the military on the off-chance that Al Qaeda might somehow get a sample of the virus and release it into the world.
I can sort of see that spreading. In the real world people do not have the skin of models. If this is a long term thing, which that looks like, then really we need some actual health care system where I can walk in and get some lesions looked at for free without worrying about breaking the bank. Because I wait for things to heal and try to treat them over time this shit would spread if I were more social. I know so many people who would just live with some bumps and sores because that is life. If the US had a decent public healthcare system where people could go if they got a huge lump or multiple poc marks you would be able to find and stop this. Because we do not have that system monkeypox is going to spread through poor communities who cannot jump up at every lump. I got a tiny scratch on my foot that turned into an inch wide hole in the ball of my foot skin. It was because of diabetes and smoking, but I tried to treat it and it just kept growing while not getting infected. Had I had health insurance I would have sought care a lot sooner. If I had monkey pox the shit might linger if I do not notice a fever or crippling illness.
