Yeah, I just saw it and the critics can suck a dick. It's not without many flaws, but it's a really fun flick with some great moments. Doesn't rank anywhere near the top ten of MCU films, but it's easily the second-best Thor film behind Ragnarok.
I'm absolutely shocked that a movie about Norse mythology, a favorite of white nationalists, is being turned into a thread about @Uncle Albert and @Federal Farmer. Imagine that.
I would comment but my head exploded from the irony of UA accusing anyone else of "imaginary grievances"
Looks like this is in MC, but it sounds like the red room. So UA and FF have derailed this into a rant about racism and GLBT hate because? I have not seen the movie yet, but I am going to be real disappointed if this is a lightyear sort of thing. For all the hate this shit better turn me into a black lesbian when I see it.
Their stated reasons? Meaningless nonsense. What I think the reasons are? Actual spoilers, not generically hidden answers.
You need to step back and take another look at ... well, probably your entire life. Critical thinking when it comes to movies/tv. These are all stories, you know that, right? They are just people acting out stories. and the stories may be good or bad and even then, whether it is good or bad is entirely up to the individual in the audience. Critical Drinker can be entertaining, but to be an actual critic, he has to be impartial to his/her own likes and dislikes and discuss the subject. Critical Drinker does not do that. He has established himself as critical of anything "woke". He has done so intentionally. It's how he gets "this" view away from "that" critic. He is selling his product much the same as anyone else. Critical Drinker has done the same thing other right wing radicals do - they have taken words like "center" and "critical" and "Constitution" and wrap them up in words that people who think like them can say "this is so obvious". When, in reality, the only thing obvious is the complete lack of critical thinking their followers actually do.
"Hurr hurr white people " is no better than "Hurr hurr black people " To pick and choose is to apply a racist standard. Pretzel yourselves.
I don't think Shirogayne is racist even though she does paint with a wide brush stroke against all white people. I haven't lived her life, but the more I read and understand what happens to people of color trying to interact with other Americans, I can understand the attitude. I should say, people of color trying to interact with other Americans in certain areas of the country. I grew up in a small town in southern michigan. I was not exposed to any racist comments even if others were truly racist fucks. They just didn't have reason to spew them because ... well ... there weren't any people of color to spew them at. So, while most people "in the middle" can say "I treat everyone the same" and are telling the truth, dismissing people who say they have experienced racism because you don't see it, is racist. and it hurts everyone, not just those experiencing it. It has hurt our society as a whole and we can see it now. So many white people have a difficult time believing racism still exists and people still experience it because they have never seen it themselves. THAT is what is tearing the country apart. Not BLM or anyone asking to be represented. It's those denying others a voice.
I think it was Alphaman who said that the most prominent black poster on the board gets called the most racist. When the board was created, that was Mewa for being sick of Tasvir's N-bombs (which even for the 2000s, why was that ever tolerated?! ), then it was Vandy for calling Storm out for the white nationalist trash he turned out to be. If I leave, I'm sure they go target Raoul the Red Shirt despite his more center-leaning views.
I don't know you well enough to take your word for anything. You say you remember when I used to post here (prior to 2020), but I do not remember you. I do remember Anna from Trekbbs (which is where most of us emigrated from). So, if you want me to accept your statement that Shirogayne is racist, you're going to have to convince me. Otherwise, you're just a whiney white boy who is angry that life isn't easy for you.
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but he does point out that Thor’s hammer can basically reform itself which in my view undermines the whole sequence in Infinity War when he has to forge the Axe. He goes on the say that it would have come in handy when going up against Thanos. Seems like a legit criticism to me. He basically says that the MCU and Thor in particular does have set of established in universe rules, but this movie breaks them just for convenience.
We seem to be at an impasse. So, let's start from the beginning. What part of "it's just a story" are you misunderstanding?
I understand it’s just a story. This is a discussion board, we are discussing the movie. What part of that don’t you understand?
But you aren't discussing the story. You posted a you tube video as if the opinions of the narrator is ... gospel. Then, when other posters voiced their opinions of the narrator of the you tube video, you defend him by pointing out everything about the story you didn't like. It's as if you, yourself, cannot separate the movie from the you tube critic. We have established Critical Drinker as a "critic" who's gained a following by emulating a format designed to attract certain viewers. We have established you have watched and liked his reviews. Now, if you want to talk about the story, then don't put it in a post defending Critical Drinker - or at least, separate the two ideas. You can say 'Critical Drinker made the statement '________' and I agree based on ....... whatever. But other posters get short with you because you put up a video as if it some sort of gospel and everyone should follow that type of thinking.
Given that it can, why assume it could have done so immediately? We know Mjolnir is basically a living being. Maybe being smashed to chunks hurt like a motherfucker, and threw it into a magical coma. A coma deep enough to be interpreted as death. It's not like a hunk of metal has a pulse you can take, or breath that can fog up a mirror.
You're correct. But, that doesn't change anything else in my post. Regardless of who posted the video, you are the one taking all insults to the video as a personal attack on you and your opinions of the movie.
No I’m not. I don’t feel insulted at all. I haven’t even posted my own opinion of the movie because I haven’t seen it yet. I was responding to the video @Uncle Albert posted because I was curious if the Drinker indeed said something sexist or racist like Nazi Hunter @Diacanu said. He didn’t.
