I think UA should tell us where this is actually happening. Kitty litter for furries was dumb as fuck too, and we found out was never an actual thing. Where are these mandatory drag queen story hours?

So you are having a meltdown over something that is not actually happening? What the fuck is wrong with you?

One of the assignments in my ninth grade drama class was to do a "dramatic reading" of a children book, and the teacher made our class present them the grade school a few blocks away. Isn't the drag queen stuff for kids usually "drag queen story hour?" The same thing I did, but with fancier outfits?

How is that political, unless you think drag queens simply existing should be up for debate?

Talk about your fucking snowflake motherfuckers. UA is arguing against something that never even happened.

Does he also get really mad if his favorite action hero loses at a movie?

This is an actual mental condition called paranoia. Someone needs to dart him, wrap him up in a straight jacket, and get him on some proper medication before he kills someone because he thinks they could possibly do something he doesn't like.

I remember in 4th grade Ronald McDonald came to my school and talked about ecology. I still remember the song. He apparently still visits schools. I'm not sure the ethical or educational purpose of this presentation, but no one protested it.

I think ingraining students with the idea that it is a moral imperative to nod your head and recite "stunning and brave" or say nothing at all is a bit outside the authority of a public school. They should be allowed to openly dislike it and decline participation without facing any negative academic consequences or being condemned as villains by their teacher. Just as they should be if it were some kind of religious presentation.

Being compassionate and understanding is supposed to be a religion for a certain major religious group that dominates the U.S., but ...

When you post stuff like this and then say you don't actually know what is and isn't happening you realise it makes you look like a complete idiot right?

It's a shame that Techman died early, you and he would have got along so well nowadays.

And the response of many on the right is that drag shows (regardless of where they are held) is that they should be met with violence. Not a discussion about if they're something that kids should experience (assuming that kids are even present) but violence.

There is absolutely a discussion that needs to be had about the value of any number of things kids are forced to attend while in school (be they pep rallies, plays, some asshole who is giving a talk because he killed people while driving drunk, etc.) but if your answer to any of them is murder, you're fucking wrong. Period. Paragraph. And as has been shown elsewhere on this board, there's a significant number of people held up by the right-wing media who think that murder is the "correct" solution. Why anyone would want to side with them is beyond me.

The best way to promote drag is to ban it. The best way to make kids hate it is to make it homework.

@Uncle Albert is upset about kids being forcibly taken to drag shows (a non-existent problem) because of a bad experience he had at a drag show where several of the drag queens turned him on more than @Jenee.

so sort of like how exposing kids to diversity should teach them a capacity to respect other's differences and that they have something to offer?

you had to stand for the anthem and pledge, didn't you?

with dissenters being singled out and/or punished.

god knows that attendance at pep rallies for sports teams has a long history of being mandatory though... are you triggered as much by that thought?

seriously man... this is why nobody takes you seriously. It's a safe bet that this is no more mandatory than any other class room activity and that no funds were "diverted".

This is why I was in the pep band in high school - so I didn't have to stand for the anthem; was too busy playing it :bigass:

Also, doing the pledge before school wasn't a thing in middle of high school :techman:

Probably only a Portland Public Schools perk but
