College is supposed to be the greatest experience of a young person's life. At University of Virginia and University of Idaho 7 young people have apparently been murdered.
Why do you hate Freedom Mike? Instead of lamenting their slaughter, you should honor their noble sacrifice.
(As UA) Raarrr-rarr-rarr-rarrr!!!! Homophobic insinuation! Raarr! *Hugs and kisses pile of guns* (Out of character) There, now he doesn't have to post.
hey now... just because most of his insults are intended to emasculate doesn't mean they've been motivated by homophobia. There's plenty of misogyny and macho insecurity behind it as well.
goddamn... I went and looked for "school shootings in the USA" and got this seven shot in Omaha the other day, too
The Idaho killings apparently were done with a knife. Just reinforces my argument that knives are just as dangerous in their own way as guns. The big difference is that the perp has to be willing to get up clise and personal to do the damage. Police also say the victims were "targeted". Moscow police to hold 4:30pm (mountain time) presser. Developing...
You have to be really in shape to run around and kill more than 4 people with a knife in a single incident. You are also not stabbing through a wood door or wall really easily either. Guns really do make it much easier. If you go to the extreme, a thin emo kid is not going to be able to kill as many people with a knife, especially if they are a smoker, thasn with a gun. especially considering 2 or three guys could hold him down with minimal damage. Not with a gun. He has a knife does not prevent me from running to get another object to counter it. If he has a gun he shoots me as I am running because he does not have to run to catch me. It is really comparing two very different things.
seven fatalities with a knife is kind of impressive... but I'm dubious that there're a few hundred mass stabbings every year.
Four, but still way too many. Two of the girls were videoed at a food truck about 2am doing a munchie run. Police have backed off earlier claims that there wasn't a public safety threat even though they don't have a suspect in custody. The president of the Michael Myers fan club is on the loose and you're downplaying the danger. I realize you don't want to spread panic, but trust in police is going to start and end with credibility (or lack thereof)
just saying that statistically this is apples to automobiles. Although my understanding of Idaho is that you can get a gun in a vending machine, so the cop suggestion that the perp isn't likely out to stab anyone else seems logical.
Your understanding is not entirely correct. There certainly is a gun culture here, but let me break it down a little. There is an awful lot of rural area here. In many of the remote, sparsely populated areas the sheriff has a handful of deputies responsible for counties the size of Rhode Island (that's an exaggeration, but not much of one) and help can be the better part of an hour away. If you have a varmint problem (four-legged or two-legged) you're going to have deal with it yourself. Most of the people here who have guns have grown up with guns, know how to handle and maintain them. They also mostly respect them. All that said, Moscow and Pullman, Washington, which is literally just down the road are both small college towns. Three of the four victims were girls, the fourth was the boyfriend of one of them. None of them struck me as the type to be packing guns. Even if someone who's packing is going to be in danger from a skilled knife attacker, knives are easy to hide and a quick strike can leave you dead before you hit the ground. Saying there was no public safety threat under the circumstances was just plain dumb.
Police have a suspect. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-murders-press-conference-today-b2253791.html
The latest from Moscow (Idaho)... Authorities said 28-year-old Bryan Kohberger of Albrightsville was arrested Friday morning. Kohberger is a graduate student studying criminology at Washington State University, the school's website shows. NBC reports officials told them that a white Hyundai Elantra was taken away from the home where Kohberger was arrested. Moscow Police have been looking for a white Hyundai Elantra they say was in the area where the students were killed that morning. Moscow Police Chief James Fry said Kohberger was arrested based on an active warrant for the murders of the victims. However, Fry could not say how they found Kohberger, what the motive was or his connection to the victims. That information is still part of the investigation, Fry said, in order to protect the ability to prosecute Kohberger. This guy's background is going to be really interesting.
