So, after 4 pages the only actual problem with this show is that Velma is officially gay and they used a brown crayon to draw her and that bothers racist and homophobic adults. So if you are not a right wing terrorist snowflake it is harmless and kids you know might enjoy it? Sounds about like what I would expect.

It is completely formulaic, and predictable, but when I was young I loved it. The only people who hate that Velma is too brown or a lesbian are the same perverts who sexualize candy based mascots. It is scooby doo. It is made for really young kids. Perhaps they are trying to get to young adults, and even then it is not meant to be shakespeare. My question is how much of it have you watched? This is the problem with adults assuming kids watch programs for the same reasons. I loved MLP, but I am sure I love it for different reasons than my niece because she is a kid. You care far more about this shit than kids do, and it is all because of hate. Kids shows fail all the time because kids do not like them. Most often it is because they are written to indoctrinate rather than to entertain kids. I am willing to admit this might be the case with this, but if kids like it then it does it's job.

The reality is gay and brown characters do not tank a series because kids do not care. It might even improve popularity through variety and inclusion. The only people pitching a fit are the racists, religious, and prejudiced homophobes. They are mad because by having positive likable representation goes against their fearmongering, mockery, and lying. If the only representation of a gay black woman is some secondary character that is freaky and looks like diamond and silk then it fits the scary comical stereotype. The only gay black female trans character they love are the shaneyney from martin type. They did not watch that show, but they love to throw that depiction around as what every black gay woman should be. Now you have the lead character in a traditional role who is likable and interesting and they lose their shit because kids might see GLBT and black diversity in a positive light. I am sorry this is in media central, but OMG why am I not surprised it pisses @Lanzman off too. The reality is every time the loud asshole racist gayphobic rightwinger leaves the guys who were silent behind them have to step up the abuse. Do you actually think that will be something a child will care about?
