But you get the dog you need. - Cesar Millan. Two months ago I had a very bad day. Just over two weeks ago we adopted another dog, he's a Chihuahua and Toy Fox Terrier mix. He's 18 months old and we got him through a local dog rescue. His name is Chimmy. This last weekend we took him on a weekend trip to Murphy NC. Initially Merlin (dog that we lost two months ago) was supposed to go with us. We weren't sure how he would be on the trip and the drive. He loves riding in the car, more specifically the car seat that we got for Merlin. We also had a stroller for Merlin, he had gotten some arthritis in his back which made walking a little harder for him. We took the stroller with us to see how Chimmy would like riding in it. We stopped in a town to walk around. It was a bit crowded, we put Chimmy on the stroller and after a few minutes he completely settled into it. So much that when we stopped to have some beers at a brewery, I had him in my lap and he climbed into the stroller on his own. Then yesterday the stroller was in the garage, he tried to get into it on his own. He also had mannerisms of the dogs we've had. In particular those of Henry, my sister's Jack Russell that we lost 5 years ago. Chimmy has strikingly similar markings. His mannerisms are also similar to the two other Chihuahuas I had. He throws his toys in the air then tries to catch them as they come down, my Chihuahua Gomez did the same thing. He'll never replace any of the dogs we've had, but he's definitely taken a place in our hearts.
My Dog died a little over 2 years ago. Got the new Dog a little over a year ago. I felt like Old Dog died because she'd completed her mission and taken me to where I was supposed to be (she died within a month of moving into a new house) so when I got New Dog, I named her "Starbuck" and so far she's taking me where I need to go next. (Incidentally, her old name was "Angel," so it is fitting that she be my Starbuck.)
