Wait, this is video of Boebert running up the Capitol steps, supposedly trying to make it inside in time to vote. https://twitter.com/tristansnell/status/1665454008167702530?s=46&t=iYW3foyqIA6Tn8VWwn3nwQ
This week’s Talking Feds had a really clever (IMO) analogy that (paraphrasing) ‘McCarthy inherited hostages but couldn’t produce demands.’ There wasn’t any single quantifiable demand (lower the deficit but don’t cut anything my people like and don’t increase taxes… isn’t) that could pass the House so he was kinda primed to just take what Biden offered. I’m on the train so didn’t catch the OMB head’s name but apparently she came to the negotiations with a list of ‘Republican/McCarthy Wins’ which he could sell his people. And since he didn’t have his own list that became the list they negotiated over. Another turn of phrase I appreciated was (paraphrasing) ‘The issue is that McCarthy’s biggest critics don’t want power they want want influence. With power comes responsibility and they don’t want that. So they can’t remove him because none of them actually want to be Speaker. For a kid it is a lot more fun being a member of a street gang than President of the HOA’. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/talking-feds/id1456045551
You don’t understand why Republicans compulsive liars and grifters compulsively lie and grift? Well of course you don’t.
NASA Fears Budget Cuts Are Imminent After Biden Signs New Legislation They wanted a 7% increase, which, when you adjust for inflation and compare it to other government expenses, means that they're trying to do more now, than they did during Apollo, with less money.
