Only because one victim told a journalist and they investigated did this fucker wind up where he is today... sentenced to 125 years. Children, and indeed all victims of sexual assault by a person in a position of power over them.
It depends on the position you are in. If you are the police you should take accusations seriously and investigate them all. That does not mean you make arrests immediately, but you should work from the position of establishing evidence for the crime and making a case. If there is no evidence and case then innocent is innocent. The general public should probably be in the dark until there is at least something establishing evidence. The general person on the street doesn't terribly matter, but employers and service providers cannot jump to conclusions that could wreck lives. However some employers maybe should be on the side of caution like perhaps suspending people who are under investigation if they are in charge of kids or security. The fact that I do not like Cosby anymore even though some of the cases may be fabricated really does jot matter much to his existence. The court should have to prove his guilt because that affects freedom, but he is really going on with life. His wife should be allowed to divorce him based on these things if she feels like it because that is a different relationship. However, for that matter we all do get to make up our own minds, but we do have to be able are of false reporting in the realm of faux news. I would hate Obama too if I thought the things faux news said about him were true, buy I know enough to know they are a lie. It is really too bad other people want to believe such obvious falsehoods.
And these weren't a bunch of poor powerless nobodies getting abused either. These were Olympic athletes. These were medal winners. These were girls that got into cereal boxes and visited the White House. And still no one gave a fuck. Why would the average person even bother trying?

It says we value that whole "innocent until proven guilty" concept. Although, I guess we should just believe all women and children and non-straight WASP males accusers on the face of it because no one would ever lie and falsely accuse someone, would they? And even if they did lie, it's only someone's reputation, property, and possibly their liberty at stake, and those are expendable.

Because saying something stupid on the internet and going to the police with a criminal complaint that might end with an innocent man in jail are totally the same thing.
