It's a Democrat, so you’d think that Republicans would be screaming bloody murder about this. Can you imagine what would happen if the Republicans went after that guy like they went after the email lady? Why, holy shit, I'd be willing to bet that we'd get laws with actual teeth in them.
There are two types of people who benefit from the perpetuation of this narrative. The first is anyone who wants people disengaged, not voting, and generally ignoring their government because they assume "well, everyone is corrupt, so nothing I do matters." This has been a favorite tactic of Vladimir Putin's: convince Russian citizens that civic engagement is pointless so that he and his cronies can rob the public without consequences. The second, of course, is whatever political faction engages in the most corruption. In American politics, this is the Republican party -- witness the fact that "a Democrat didn't report his stock sales quickly enough" merits a news headline. The more corrupt factions always benefit from getting people to say "well, they're all equally bad, a pox on both their houses."
Notice the "pox on both houses" crowd rarely stops voting themselves, but they love being an airborne cancer that stops others.
It should be noted both sides think their side is the solution and is going to do something about the corruption they both do. The reality is you are not going to get rid of corruption by voting republican or democrat. @Bill Carson is a moron expecting Trump and other republican/libertarians to be the solution to the corruption problem. OTOH I do not see the dems with Biden/Hillary being the ones going to stop corruption either. Even Bernie and Warren are pretty much neutered in any difference they try to make by working with the corruption of the dems. In the end corruption is acceptable by both party voters as neither will demand their party do anything, and they all think their party is the solution despite accepting the corruption out of fear the other corrupt side might win.
Of course, the Tererun standard of "solution" is... Senator- I put forward this bill that bans all corruption forever and ever in any form, even stuff we haven't thought of yet! All other Senators and Reps- I!!!!!! The whole planet-
The problem isn't corruption. The problem is the vast majority of people in this country treat politics like its a spectator sport. It's a horrible crime when the other party's guy gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but it's minimized when someone on your party does the same. Or it's excused. Or it's simply ignored. And that's assuming the press really even covers it and doesn't just give it a passing mention. Everyone in this country should be livid at what goes on in DC and state capitols. Instead, most of us just say "yeah, but the other party is worse" and keep voting for the incumbent simply because he has the correct letter after his name.
I'm not entirely convinced Volpone or Dinner has the mental integrity to accept that "the right" also engages in corruption. Maybe Murderface is Lanzman.

I cannot understand what you are talking about when you are gargling Pelosi and Biden's nuts at the same time It would be nice if they could get to work banning bribery/lobbying and insider trading that are not new or future problems we have not seen yet. Here's some more fact for you. 49.7% of voting members of congress own stocks. 50% of committee chairs and ranking members own stocks. It's estimated that lawmakers traded 355 million in stocks in 2021. Those were the biggest buyers and sellers. Nancy Pelosi blocked an anti-trust bill put forth by Ken Buck and David Ciciline.
