In the sense that we had threads about people being butthurt over a Shakespeare company doing a version of Julius Caesar where the actor playing Caesar looked like Trump (nobody said a word about the 8 years of them performing the play with an Obama lookalike in that role), and Kathy Griffin's photo series where she beheaded Trump.

When Obama was elected, I remember a decent number of people being afraid that there was no way a Black man could serve an entire term as president in this country without white supremacists finding a way to kill him.

In retrospect, given what we've learned about just how much of that shit has been bubbling just under the surface, it might be even more surprising.

My mom was in her late forties when he was elected and said she never expected to live long enough to see a Black man get elected into office and definitely no to have a Black woman VP after that.

In hindsight it truly is remarkable that no one ever got close to succeeding in offing him.
