https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/16/asia...-travis-king-explainer-intl-hnk-ml/index.html Apparently the guy was stationed in South Korea, assaulted someone, did 50 days in a South Korean jail, and was scheduled to be flown to Fort Bliss and hauled in front of a military court. He booked a spot on a civilian tour of the DMZ, then bolted across the border and tried to get into a North Korean facility, failed, ran to the back of the building, and was arrested. Offhand, it looks like maybe he thought defecting to North Korea would get him better treatment than facing Army punishment for whatever he did? Seems like a pretty irrational assumption, but then, not everybody is rational ...
I don’t know how he imagined this was gonna play out but I do know he was dead f-ing wrong. Once the NorKs are finished with him it will be quite a few years making little rocks out of big rocks at Leavenworth AND THEN the chapter.
Shortly after it happened, I read an article that interviewed people who knew the guy. Based on what they said, I'm reasonably certain that this guy has some mental health issues, and they're not only what led to the various (and it's more than just what that CNN article says) disciplinary incidents that he'd had, but also to him thinking that escaping to North Korea was a really good idea.
Well, this buggy shitty board ate a post that was 75% done, so this is all the entertainment you drooling retards get for a bit.
So my question is what is the US going to give NK for this nutbar back? Will it be another merchant of death, or perhaps a few working nuclear ICBMs because we just have to chase down people whop make obvious bad moves and bring them back to the US. I just will never understand our need to negotiate for people who make obvious poor choices to run to some anti-US place and then get into trouble for it. Seems to me problem solved as long as we just leave it alone.
even NK won't take a black pedo. I don't know what he was thinking. I would imagine the US prison system to be a lot better than a nobody pedophile military grunt going to NK prison. Some people make bad life choices.
Well, this story makes a lot more sense now. He probably solicited nudes from a minor, realized he was about to get popped for it and that the sentence would be a lot worse than the two months he just did, and decided he'd try to defect before he could get arrested.
