Aside from the dick sucking propaganda that will ensue if they succeed, this is one field where I hope the Russians do well in, because it ultimately benefits everyone. (Although if India finds water on the moon first, I'll be happier )
It appears to have problems. https://www.reuters.com/technology/...s-first-results-space-agency-says-2023-08-19/
Mods, please change this thread title to: "Russia fails again". Thanks. P.S. - I'm all for the advancement of space exploration, but fuck Russia.
It's the only thing Russia should succeed at, resulting propaganda notwithstanding. But now Putin's failure is complete.
Well, that's it for the Russians and the space game for a while. After all the issues they've been having, he's threatened to slash their budget even more. With this? Lots of people are going to be falling out of windows or suddenly vacationing well outside of Russia. If I were NASA, I'd be calling up the folks at places like SpaceX and Boeing and saying, "Guys, from now on, you can't fuck up. Not once. Got that?"
And the ESA and India really need to step up their game as well. China should too, but they'll use it as leverage against us I think, unless it was a true unifying crisis like in The Martian.
India becomes the first country to land a probe on the moon’s South Pole. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-66594520
