I do not know what is going on, and it may be due to amaris leaving, or some sort of security thing. However, I can send PMs. When I try to PM amaris I get a message that I cannot PM that user. However, whgen I try to add to an already existing PM conversation with amaris I am able to. I do not know what this means, but I am noting it and maybe something is going on and this is just due to whatever that is, and I am just early for the announcement.
so I did a little more testing wondering if there might be something stopping me from starting a new conversation with a person I had an old PM conversation with, and I can do that with other people. So there is some strange bug that is currently still preventing me from starting up a private conversation with amaris, but I seem to be able to add to an existing conversation without error. It is really just odd and might be happening elsewhere. I have not tested everything yet and have not found problems starting conversations with a few people. I do not want to go bothering everyone testing this out with PMs if there is a reason for this that can be corrected. So I will; leave it at this until someone asks me to verify anything new. I am using fully updated firefox now, and have not tried in other browsers or other devices yet.
I believe I have found the source of the issue and have repaired it. Let me know if you're still having trouble.
no, the issue is still occurring. Is there some sort of limit to the number of open PM conversations between 2 individual users? I will try and delete an old coversation and see if that helps.
So I removed myself from an old dead conversation I had with amaris that contained nothing and it still says I am not allowed to start up a conversation with her when I try to start a new conversation or include her in another conversation with multiple people. This is happening across multiple computers with firefox and vivaldi. just a stab in the dark here, could it be because Amaris was the one who changed my nick last? I am thinking of things that were done by her on my account. Could there be some weird glitch that came from permissioning due to that? This looks like a permission warning like perhaps I was on an ignore list or there was some sort of system restriction set up to stop a user from PMing another. Again, this is not a huge deal, just a bug I have noticed. Maybe I should clean up my conversation list further? I would guess Amaris might be the person I have DMed the most around here. I actually think I have DMed others more which is why I have not thought that, but maybe? I have a lot of old conversations and I know databases can get funky errors after being corrected a number of times. I am just spitballing ideas.
That is certainly odd. I've gone over your account with a fine tooth comb, and I'm not seeing anything out of sorts. Hell, I checked my account to make sure something isn't wonky, and it looks fine from here, too. It could be a corrupt database, and I certainly hope not, but I'll check that out, too.
It is really strange. That is why I was worried about DB corruption or something. It looks like the error you get when you try to send a PM to a person who you do not have permission to. I can't recreate it with anyone else, but since it is with the PM system and people may not be PMing between each other a lot it may be going on with other links. I am going to throw everything out there. I first got the error when I was trying to send a multiperson PM. It included you and three other people. The message was not sent to anyone. So it failed going out before it got into transit. It did not go to the other three recipients and it was not saved as far as I can see. I can still send multiperson PM's, but if you are in the contact line they give the error Participants: You may not start a conversation with the following recipients: Amaris. I clearly can see you. I have conversations ongoing with you. I just cannot start a conversation with you.
Can other people start up a new conversation with you? I am not talking about adding to an old conversation, but a brand new conversation with you. If it is not in the xenforo software where that program sets up a block between users it might have been set up on the OS or DB level where the xenforo software might not be able to display, but it would also have to abide by.
I've had one other person contact me with a new conversation, and they had no trouble. They were admin level, though. I'm wondering if regular users can't PM me with new conversations.
I received this error when trying to PM you: The following error occurred: Participants: You may not start a conversation with the following recipients: Amaris.
Yeah, when I click open your mini-profile popup thingy, I don't even get a "start conversation" option.
well, that seems to have done it. Now we can all send our death threats directlytoo you again for ytour participation in the violet room incident.
