Lot of places in Europe never had such segregation. A lot of newer architecture has stalls with secure doors that go very close to the floor surrounding a common area with sinks mirrors and such that are shared by all.

we've still got a couple of gendered restrooms at work (there're three buildings... they're all in the one) everywhere else, and in that same building, the rest of them are either singles or labelled as "all gender".

I just want to comment on this point. XY and XX are not universal (nor does being one automatically translate to ‘biological sex’.) Yes they are the overwhelming vast majority of humans but not all*.

I had a friend that was EXTREMELY female. She had the most delicious thick hourglass figure (tits you couldn’t lift with two hands and an ass…. mmmm… damn). All natural. Including her vagina. But she was born XY+.

Unfortunately it came with some health issues. Sterility wasn’t a big deal. Her vagina didn’t have the usual amount of nerve endings but she was into anal so that wasn’t a big deal. But the heart issues lead to her early death last year.

There is already a large overlap of hatred towards women who do not dress female enough being accosted in female spaces. These anti-trans laws are only going to effect cis women who do not dress girly. Unless the trans woman got some fucked up surgery, she is probably going to dress feminine and pass. Especially if they start a lot earlier than the old days.

The whole thing becomes obvious when the bigots are trying to stop kids from HRT during puberty. There is only one reason for that, and that is because they want to force them to develop male physical traits so they can identify them easier. They know full well the trans girls in school today are only going to be identifiable by criminal assault by the bathroom police. There will not be any cop who has business or training to know if the uterus is there. If their ID says female, and they have a vagina and breasts with no male attributes from puberty, you are going to have to go all out with a forced gyno exam, which is rape.

And again, the people who will be raped by the repugs will be cis women who are ugly. The repugs have always wanted to torture and rape girls for not being feminine enough. It is sexism 101.
