    I haven't read them, so I wouldn't know. I was going by the description in the quote.

    I took a look at the Wikipedia page and I'm not sure I'm any more enthused.

    The books are very good.

    And judging by the trailers, this actually looks promising too. It seems that they are making some changes to the books but the general thrust of the story may be intact, including the ominous tone and the cosmic horror stuff. The later books would be even more challenging to adapt if they get that far.
