The good news is that he has to post a bond. Apparently he was able to post the $5 million for the original verdict, but $83 million is a lot to grift from the MAGA cult. I don't know if the bonding for a civil case award would work the same way as bail bonding with some percentage up front and the agency putting up the rest, but with the reputation Trump has for stiffing everybody from contractors to lawyers I doubt any bond agency would want to put up that much money for him. :chris:

You may like his policies, but someone that basically no one actually wanted as president would be a terrible leader.

I'm not sure why it would necessarily. Of course, there's a chance of reversal or reduction with any verdict.

But there's generally a good amount of deference that is going to be given to a jury verdict. As long as there's evidence that could conceivably support it, an appellate court is unlikely to overturn it. And since the case was properly governed by the verdict in the first trial establishing that Trump had sexually assaulted and then defamed Carroll, a reasonable jury was locked in to evaluating everything Trump said and did as continued defamation. I don't know if the jury was shown that literally during the court case itself, Trump continued to defame Carroll on social media to his millions of followers, and his defamatory statements but I assume so.

Faced with the question of what it will take to get a billionaire who thinks he's above the rules to stop, $83.3 million may not be enough.

LOL. Guiliani's "defense" of Trump's loss in the E. Jean Carroll trial?

"Well first off, it was sexual assault not rape. But even if you are a rapist, that doesn't mean the person you raped isn't crazy!!"

Man, I wish I could claim I owed a company (that I own) a huge chunk of cash so I can write off a load of tax.

In case that's not shady enough, apparently Trump doesn't even owe that money - not even in an "I owed it but they wrote it off" sense.

Luckily the court monitor for Engoron was on the case - and Trump Org shot itself in the foot:

Liddy was honorable in his own fucked up way. North willingly took the NRA presidency, but when he found out about LaPierre's corruption he tried to put a stop to it. That puts both of them ahead of that idiot. Am I complimenting them? Not really. Think about it. :brood:
